Sculpture is a wonderful art. This was a great show.

I think this guy was the inspiration for Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto
I always wondered what gifted mechanical mind came up with those always entertaining window displays. Great show!
RB seems to be doing a series on art that could more properly be called fraud, so how about a feature on Donald Roller Wilson:

We need to get this guy together with Anastasia Ward from the episode of a few days ago. Think of the (somewhat frightening) potential!
Hooray for Fridays!
Hooray for Rocketboom!
Hooray for Rocketboom Fridays!
Jimster, you think we could borrow some of that snow? We need it badly in Toronto…
I *LOVE* it! Dr. Gerbo strikes again. Soon he will take over the world!
great feel to that piece, if there’s a difference between
this art and a couple of previous showings it’s got to be the how far each artist
has stripped back the raw materials and repurposed them
for a wholly original concept.
But hey it’s plagiarism .. when did they first start building automotons ?
1769 Wolfgang von Kempelen of Hungary invented the Automoton Chess Player. It was 1st demonstrated to the Austrian court in 1770. In 2001 the deception was analyzed by James W. Cook in his book “The Arts of Deception.†In 2002 Tom Standage authored “The Turk,†an examination of the 18th century fascination with automotons.

You know what I like best about RB these days?
Free episodes published regularly, early, and consistently, every Monday through Friday, devlivered before I get to work (EST).
I can’t think of a single other video blog that can make the same claim. can anyone else?
good job RB et al!
And this guy’s very cool, nice episode today.
People are so cruel. Steve, you’re a creative nut case and your mind is a magical nut.
J.W., I agree that it’s impressive that such a small group of people with relatively few resources can produce something this good day after day.
The guy today seemed like a nice guy, and he has some fun stuff there. Still, a thing isn’t always art just because it’s weird or ugly or a little disturbing, or because someone put a lot of work into it.
Jake — That was sarcasm, wasn’t it?
Obviously, art is largely in the eye of the beholder and I speak only for myself. If you think today’s stuff was grand, then by all means send the man a check. Artists need patrons.
Not everything needs to have a point I suppose. If I found it interesting to watch other people pick at their own navels for no apparent reason I suppose I’d find this man’s “work” more engaging.
He’s not hurting anyone at least. Those who enjoy it enjoy away. Personally, I think it’s crap. But, hey, that’s only my opinion.

Kam, 1 large onion. Okay it’s your piece, who can argue with a onion, unless you wat to make it cry.
Savageâ€â€1 1/2 hours of footage??
Enter it at Sundance.

Lot more educational than the old Rocketboom, I feel like I’ve learned something wherein before it was, “Why am I watching this?”
However, even though it’s more content driven, I can’t help wondering if the creeps who tuned in to ogle Amanda’s breasts will remain fans.
