Its sad but “Wow” I’m first
Bonjour,
this small detached expression, a little cynicism by taking people at their words, generating a burlesque handing-over in question, too much smoothness not to evoke an invariably British character.
Let us be realistic, What does naturally separate the Great Britain ( and France ) from the United States ?
more than 6000 kilometers of water.
Thanks God. ;)
S.
wow. looking good today
I love the new map. Kind of retro but with a 21st century palette. I’d be fine with that being permanent from now on.
Has Joanne considered adopting a Canadian accent? I think she should check it oot.
Oh Joanne,
Please do keep playing with your accent(s).
Change–> No.
Play —–> Yes, Yes, Yes!!!
Rocketboom panders to its audience with an abandon that would make a Las Vegas lounge singer blush.
I love it anyway, because it’s always interesting, often surprising, and usually funny. And also because Joanne is cuter than a koala bear.
It’s already different - You have messed up your accent!
You sprained it….!
I can tell,.
I can’t decide if RocketBoom entertains us so that we keep coming back for more and then RB can sneaks in some socially valuable content or if RocketBooms intent is to entertain us but can’t resist providing us with some socially valuable content on occasion.
Please, yes, keep the accent! If the new map is white, will the site’s background still be white, too? Right - and how about a story on how MySpace is the most poorly designed web site in history.
Isn’t that Larry Kings old map?
HD YAY! It lets me see the cacky pants of the man just off camera through the mirror.
Are you being held hostage?! Joanne, just wink if you are ok and wink twice if we should send for help.
I thought that the Ringtone dancer was maybe Amanda’s new gig. Similar moves but hey, maybe that could be a career move! After all she was pretty famous for those dance steps. And ringtones can help pay the rent in CT. It bet Endevour hasn’t thought up that one for her. And it keeps her alive in New Media.
Hey, hey, I like the idea of map rotation. That map must look good in print, but it’s a bit glaring on the web.
It’ll be interesting to see it in action!
Honestly, you should put some lighting at the top of the old map. Proper lighting goes a long way. Give it a shot!
I like this show :)
Yes, you do look smashing today.
I don’t like the new map that’s at the printer! Keep the old crap map!
Hi Joanne,
Fantastic show, the second the it was over I went to myspace and clicked the “Add to Friends” botton. ‘Cause I’ll do anything you say pretty lady.
I still think it would be fun if you did speak with an American accent occasionally.
Dig the new map…makes me want to travel!
Joanne’s british english accent is unique and entertaining in every case except one - when rocketboom is featuring criticisms of US policies or actions. Even if one agrees with the comments, remarkably, they really hit you differently coming from a foreign accent, and it does interfere with the message. you might want to consider alternatives for these cases.
You’re kidding about the new map right? That can’t possibly be what you’re really going to use. That… looks… awful. And boring.
Have to say, though, I really like RB, and Joanne’s delivery is great. Even if you have a boring ugly background, I’ll still watch.
Great show today…a nice way to start off the week.
That Voltron camera is amazing…I need to find one of those.
The grace by which that mirror was lowered - astounding!
And when the breaking news fell from the ceiling via the delivery drop in the ceiling for correspondents - brilliant!
Who thought of that?
RocketBoom …thanks for the story and links that led to
http://www.antikythera-mechanism.gr
Truly amazing.
Great show. Great pace too ..
started slow and hammy and then just accelerated away.
cheers.
Loved the show. Joanne gets better every week, (and she was terrific to begin with).
BTW-They’ve been running a special on the Antikythera-Mechanism for over a year on the Discovery Channel. It’s kind of old news.
The new map is underwhelming. You may as well slap it on the wall while you continue to think about what you really want there.
Anything is better than the old map, which stinks of paleo-Rocketboom.
I appreciate it’s a deliberately low resolution rendition but obviously the person who put your map together has a very scratchy understanding of the shape of Australia (and quite a few other countries).
The new map stinks. Keep the current map. It’s the Rocketboom trademark.
You don’t want a fiasco like the “New Coke”?
The British accent stays: Hail Brittania!
However, that brief foray into French quite set my ears to burning. Perhaps a bit more of that Madame … sil vous plait?
Joanne … you are sooo sexy.
And quite bright as well. As I said .. when you’re ready to work on that Texas drawl … do cawl me. Heah?
Yewl git it much fastir then you did plain ol’ Amurican.
It’s way more funner too.
So long, y’all.
Wild Bill
“Common Era”
Do we have to be that PC?
To be consistent, I have to when you are going to stop using the Julian calendar and weekday names because they too have religious overtones?
I think the new map is pretty cool. Can’t wait to see it.
I like you, Joanne, and, of course, the way you talk is just fine and dandy. Who the hell needs more adaptation to the States? Isn’t the world enough “Americanized”? Having you here is what’s important and keeping it real. Still, maybe you and Andrew could talk to an artist (or an art student) about a decent background (or map) instead of the bland one shown today. We need spice, color, life, and carnival. No?
Map, schmap. (56th)
Judging from the comment section, do any women watch RB?
Nice bangs, Joanne. I’m surprised your recent haircut hasn’t received more comments.
Yes, women do watch too.
I like the map, but yes, please fix Australia. It looks like it’s growing a tail.
Great Show! Nice haircut, thanks for the French and for the smile!.. yay! :)
Keep up the good job Joanne!
Why a map? there is some explanation why only a map fits in Rocketboom?
I have so Many questions, so little character space…
What a bunch of useless dribble. “I like the map” “please don’t change your accent” “please bash U.S. policies some more”.
Why don’t we discus how long it will take the French to form the new and improved “UNIFIL”? Many folks no longer support Mr. Bush’s invasion of Iraq or Afghanistan. But no one doubts him if he says we’re coming in two weeks. The dang French are in charge of keeping the peace between Isreal and Hezbollah but they have very few folks there and it’s been just about two weeks since Isreal agreed to this international effort. I predict that Isreal gets fed up and has to go back before Christmas/Kwanza/Channakuh.
What a bunch of useless dribble. Maps, accents, politics.
Why don’t we discuss what’s really important, like who will be the next guest star on the Simpsons. I heard they were trying to get Tom Cruse, but he has not answered any of his phone calls.
I’m soo glad you’re not changing your accent. I love it!
Thank you! At least I think thank you…
When I was at a Superbowl party a few years ago and an ad came up that said, “Visit us online at nfl.com or AOL keyword ‘nfl.com’” I almost had an aneurism on the spot.
AOL keywords were OK in 1995 when you could purchase ‘beer’ and have it point to ‘iamthegreatestbrewerever.com’ but pretty much everything AOL does today is superfluous and makes me want to cry. If I wasnt at work right now, I’d be sobbing uncontrollably.
I’m not surprised that their users still have trouble doing simple tasks on the Internet.
I like the fact that Joanne is a polyglot, she speaks good French.
I like the new map and the ringtone dancer was pretty funny.
you guys are getting into a nice groove
