Weird
Great point… be nice to people!
When there are segments, like today, I appreciate the segement drop down at the right of the controls for follow up viewing. I guess it all got a little hectic today….
Andrew,
I did not know that it takes that long to get the show rendered and uploaded. That is a lot of work put into one show - in addition to having to deal with the negative comments…
I have to say that Rocketboom is doing a GREAT job! I do appreciate the shows you provide and thank you.
Robots soccer? Now that is cool!
Lame! once again!
Well done. Joanne, you did a great job with your delivery today. Enjoyed the robot soccer clip too.
Nice job, folks.
I was born in Gettysburg in 1947… it’s amazing how much that town has changed since the 50s and 60s — used to be a bustling square. Always alot of tourists, but the place for locals to shop (read: no malls). Now, it’s only ‘tourist’. Sorry Jerry.
And yes… the battlefields are indeed spooky… and the cops paranoid.
Ya’ll take care… keep up the good work!

Hi, Joanne
You look amazing, thanks for the great tips, I bookmarked popurls, and I posted the uncycle dancing on my third blog, “Watch Want You Want”.
Here’s your #1 Emily Girl
http://www.wnbc.com/entertainment/9647453/detail.html
Why doesn’t she fly into Bagdad with fired Reuters photographer Adnan Hajj.
He’ll photoshop her to look just like Marilyn Monroe.
Joanne, you were great today, but the best part of todays episode was being introduced to Jerry Time. I’ve watched it several times and found something new every time. Robot soccer and bike dancing have been around for years and is a little worn. If you happen to be in the neighborhood you just pull out a camera and shoot it. To spend hours and hours putting together an animation piece is on another level. Thanks.
I normally like RB, and I know it’s difficult to do those episodes, but todays episode was a mess. Jumped from one thing to another way too fast without a comment or anything. Would have been easier to just post 9 urls.
Don’t wanna sound too harsh, just commenting. Most episodes from the last 3 weeks were very good. Keep your game up! :-)
1. Jerry cracks me up.
2. Nice hair flip at the end there.
Joanne could charm the birds out of the trees.
Ugh. The map is back.
I’d love to see RB do a spoof on Rick Mercer’s “Talking to Americans”. You know - get Joanne out on the streets, asking people ridiculous questions with a straight face.
Am I crazy or is that Andrew, Amanda, Joanne, Ze, the Tikis (I think), and Steve G on the bus in the Jerry time video? Who’s the other guy? Any guesses?
Great job RB2!
Indonesia’s amicable relationship with the United States has little or nothing to do with tsunami relief. It does have to do with the fact the United States has sold Indonesia military equipment and supported the invasion and annexation of East Timor in the 1970’s. That would be like selling Saddam Hussein the weapons to invade Kuwait and approving of it. The Indonesian government likes the United States because it helped Indonesia be cruel, not because the tsunami support.
So, I disagree with your premise, but agree with your conclusion - a handshake is more effective in building peace than a hand grenade.
The U.S. provides more than $2 billion a year in aid to Muslim nations in the Middle East. How much would be enough? Double? Quadruple? Only a fool tries to buy love. And why aren’t they equally obligated to buy our love? Why is it only a one-way street?
How come mixed in with all of the cool, pop schmaltz, we have to get a bit of subliminal liberal policticalthink ala “if we stop mowing people down they will like us.” Fact Check: The pseduo-muslims jihadists are the guys who get their cookies killing women and kids. Unfortunately, we sometimes have accidentally killed women in kids trying to kill the guys who choose to kill women and kids–in the name of God.
Maybe they should be concerned what the world thinks of them.
Please stick with a wonderful web exploratory without the embedded digs on US policy.
Fair enough?
Thanks!
I thought you got rid of the map!
Great show!
I loved the part about robot soccor!
Nice censoring and deleting of critical posts!
What happened to freedom of speech?
Nice enough episode. I think I agree a little with Kirko though about the transitions between segments being just a tad on the abrupt side this time.
Good day sunshine, good day sunshine…. One leaves here with a better feeling when they don’t have to wade thru lots of muck. The muck makers are better of participating at sites that thrive on that stuff. Thanks for saving me from having to read thru the verbal discontent. ….Jerry is cool. It takes him around a month to make one episode. Doing a daily makes me think about how the way newspaper people are always portrayed, always rushing for the deadline. …you guys don’t have to adhere to daily events so you have more room to make canned episodes but I still can’t imagine having to make a daily deadline. …back to the beatles, …its getting better all the time, better, better, better……………
Second that “Joeanne charming” comment. Nice episode.
that floating bed looked a bit dodgy. oh, i’m past tense. great show!
NAB: So, you agree with me that the Middle East is a little more complicated than the kindergarten-level analysis put forth in the video.
The unicycle dancing segment was great!
I agree with the comments about Joanne’s amazing beauty, charm, and I’ll add a compliment of her voice… always a sikly delight.
But I also am getting infuriated with RB’s simplistic one-sided presentations of matters Islamic.
The opinions of RB regarding that topic are horribly anti-West, anti-Israel, and pro-appeasement.
Roger:
I think it is a little extremist to call stupid all religions. The very same segregation you are denouncing, is what drives such comments.
Wether we like it or not religions have given moral scaffoldings to humans, and many of what today we consider to be right and proper has roots in what once a religion expressed to be right and proper.
Yeah, Joanne, if we give the Muslims all of our money, dig our own graves and pull the dirt over our heads, I believe the militant Muslims will leave the Westerners alone. You seem to imply that President Bush and Prime Minister Blair are to blame. I believe this struggle goes back to Abram/Abraham. Ever since his bastard son Ishmael and Isaac started fighting this struggle has gone on. The fact that western Christians came to the defense of Jerusalem a few years back (seems like the Christians called it the Crusades), it seems the friend of my enemy is also my enemy. Here’s what I do know: - Muslims killed 240+ Marines in Beirut in the 80’s, they attacked western embassies in the Sudan and Kenya, they’ve attacked at least twice in NYC, once on the Pentagon, London, Madrid, multiple attacks in Italy, the Achille Lauro, the USS Cole…most of these preceded Bush and Blair. If RB is going to report on this situation, please leave the politics aside.
I have no experience in film at all and so do not have the vocabulary but today’s show was obviously different in some stylistic way. It had a totally different feel. I think it’s fantastic that you never know what flavor RB is going to be from day to day. Seems like Drew and the gang are just having fun with this, which is sort of the point of life right? For as many people who think some news item is old and “worn,” there are many of us for whom it is brand new. The internet is a big place…
S
As for the map, you can’t tell me that you haven’t noticed what the pranksters at RB are doing. If it were any more transparent, it would be boring. They are waving the clues in your face. First they said, “look at the map” by ripping it down. Then they said, “let’s talk in code.” Since then they’ve been imbedding clues in the map every time it’s up and Joanne drops the daily “key” in her broadcast. It looks like we might be halfway through the “message” and won’t be able to fully unscramble it until almost the very end. Brilliant.
SOCCER!?!?!
Come on Jo, you’re English for goodness sake! We all know it’s football!
I’m off for a pint of best.
Jack, they’re more likely to be hit by a Tsunami - called debt repayment.
Not Exactly - selling weapons to Saddam in order for him invade Iran was the plan - Kuwait was just an unfortunate biproduct.
Alistair - check out the U.S. debt - You might find the States get’s more aid than anyone else - or are they planning on paying the World Bank back one day ??
Nab - I thought that 2 billion went straight into American pockets - afterall you don’t give them the cash - you give them American built products - I don’t think the aid is actually leaving the States is it ??
Bill the PR Guy - errrrrrrr .. - maybe who? should worry about what the World thinks of them - as God and Bush are on first name terms - and God told George to invade Afghanistan and Iraq and to secure a state for the Palestinians I guess it’s possible there’s more than one God out there ? - if so I wish they’d agree policy.
Alistair - I think the ‘kiddergarten’ level was specifically for George, the rest of us are supposed to read between the lines.
Roger - there’s no disputing the tragedy of 9-11, but it’s also not nice to destroy ALL the buildings in ALL the cities in return - whilst I don’t agree with a life for a life I certainly don’t agree with the current exchange rates on offer.
iDrifter … yeah the unicycling was cool. hehehehe …
Luis - you’re right - it’s a poor idea to call all religions stupid - I can only think of one of the top of my head that seems to be genuinely stupid — Scientology, and only because after several thousand years of variations on a theme you’d have hoped Hubbard would come up with a better storyline, still at least sleep comes easy.
Hartless - I think Muslims would definitely for go for that deal - afterall it would stop them having to give the West all their money, whilst the West digs their graves and pushes the dirt over their heads - how many Iraqi teenagers got buried alive by the bulldozer push in the gulf war ? — ouch… must have been terrible knowing they’d die if they did, and they’d die if they didn’t - how about the U.N. propose that no-one under the age of 40 should fight on the front line - that might do it ??
roger - yeah - cars and cigarettes are pretty dangerous too - but I’m wondering - last year about 10,000 people were killed through gun crime in the States - by most peoples standards that’s a civil war. What the hell’s going on over there ? and do you need any help ? I think the Chinese could probably send in a stabilisation force.
DOUG …DOUG …DOUG …DOUG … I’m not sure that the peoples of Islamic states have absolutely no objection to being bombed .. but if that’s the case then maybe what they really object to is having lines drawn all over their part of the map.
SO HERE’S A SOLUTION:
Give the Palestinians back their homeland, turn jerusalem into a World Heritage city and move the state of Israel to Oregon.
x
only kidding - Oklahoma would probably be a better bet.
If I forgot anyone .. my apologies .. but what are you going to do ? diplomacy? sanctions ? or all out war ?
Peace be upon us - no matter who we are or what we think - afterall - WE ARE ALL WE’VE GOT.
Great show by the way.
I love robo soccer, it rocks.
I like popurls too, I have noticed a lag in digg as well as a lag on your vlogs, what’s going on guys?
Gee, I didn’t realize that RB attracted so many Republican apologists who think “liberal” is a dirty word, and are now running so scared that they need to whine every time their failed policies and lack of caring about anyone except themselves are pointed out.
—would allow us to make oil exploration at home and off our own shores—
Before you go plowing up American wilderness to fill up people’s Hummers, do a little research into Concentrating Solar Power, Wind Power, or any of a number of other “alternative” sources of energy. Technology is unlocking these sources and making them more cost-efficient than oil. For a fraction of what we spend in subsidizing the oil industry, we could convert our whole power infrastructure within a decade. The only reason to keep drilling is to support the insatiable power and money addicts. Please tell your party to go back to its roots and put the “conserve” back into conservative. It’s the only answer and in 20 years when the sheep have had it beaten into their heads by reality, they’ll bleat like it’s a new thing and pat themselves on the back for discovering it…. By then, many beautiful things will have been lost.
More kindergarten analysis, this time from aachoo (sorry, I don’t have the time to type out the entire “name”).
Every single point made was equally childish, more or less, and life’s too short to spend refuting such a lengthy post, so I’ll just focus on one for now:
“SO HERE’S A SOLUTION:
Give the Palestinians back their homeland, turn jerusalem into a World Heritage city and move the state of Israel to Oregon.”
Move 6 million Jews to another continent. Yeah, that’s the ticket. Remember the last time somebody tried to get rid of 6 million Jews? I think they called that one the “final solution.”
The fact that Jews have lived in that land for millennia doesn’t matter, they’ve ALL got to go. These Palestinians are very reasonable.
Of course, nobody gives a fig about the violent pogroms and discriminatory laws that drove millions of Jews from their ancestral homes throughout the Middle East and northern Africa.
Aachoo got one thing right. The Palestinians/Arabs/Iranians won’t stop the violence until all of Israel is given up. At the 2000 Camp David summit, Barak offered them everything they claimed they wanted, a viable two-state solution, and it was rejected. More recently, Israel forcibly removed thousands of Jewish settlers from Gaza, handing it over unilaterally to the Palestinians. This magnanimous gesture was met with, not overtures of peace, but continued terrorism.
Ironically enough, the only place in the Middle East where Arabs sit on a genuinely democratic parliament are Iraq and Israel. Arabs enjoy more civil liberties in Israel than in any other Middle Eastern country.
Israel and the U.S. have no qualms about Muslims building mosques and worshipping freely in their countries. Do you know how many churches and synagogues there are in Saudi Arabia? None. Do you know what they do to anybody caught disseminating a bible in Saudi Arabia? I’ll let you guess. It’s hardly better for non-Muslims in other Middle Eastern nations, either (except Israel).
Moreover, despite a deluge of trillions for their oil over the past several decades, the Middle East still cannot point to a single successful industry other than the oil business. Instead of using those trillions to invest in developing industry and jobs for its out-of-work people, the sheiks and other dictators use it to buy countless gilded palaces and gold-plated Rolls Royces.
This is all about a loss of face for Muslims. They can’t stand the fact that the West is more prosperous than they are. And Israel, being a prosperous, free nation right in their midst, is the starkest example. They can’t bring themselves to put the blame where it belongs, their self-destructive and bankrupt culture. And the victimhood ideology of self-hating Westerners like aachoo, enables them to keep wallowing in their self-pity and senseless rage, like a drunk’s wife enables her husband to continue his destructive behavior.
