Holy moly… that’s one BIG map.
worldmapper today, yesterday’s rocketboom show:
how to have a cleverer point of view of the world we are living in.
thank you amanda.
Enjoyed your show (again). Seems like RB is gaining in popularity (world wide). You need even larger maps Amanda!
Greetings from The Netherlands ;-)
Its not the map that got big. It was Amanda who got small!
Back to pink again. Whew…. what a relief.
She’s got the whole world, on her wall!!
Looking good! :-)
Rocket Boom on my PSP rocks, or should I say it rockets?
shows like today are classic rocketboom, and the new map is awesome too.
Speaking of press coverage, did you ever do your appearance at Two Boots. I never saw any mention.
Yes I’m a Mapporazzi. I take photos of pretty girls in front on BIG gigantic size maps.
Please hold up cow mug and say MOO!
Thank you.
Your picture will appear in
Mapoholic Magazine in July.
On newstands no where.
It would be cool if you could increase the cameras field of view to include the whole map through out the whole show. Maps are awesome, I wish I was a map.
i hope you don’t take further your “small is the new big” cause you’ll begin to fatter or to thinner, just as coherent as you, you and rb seems to be wahaha whah …. heh
You should get a Pacific-Centered Peters Map or a reversed poles Hobo-Dyer map:
http://www.odt.org/
(as shown by Cartographers for Social Equality on The West Wing)
The map hasn’t really changed: Manda’s lost weight.
I watch your v blog everyday and I think that it is really cool. You really got everyone yesterday by not saying anything being the day of silence.Lovely job Amamnda.
I think its awesome she covered bookcrossing. I’v been doing that for years. There are a whole lot of books to be picked up in the Dallas area
When I was flying to Grand Cayman for easter I was flipping through the airmall magazine, and seen a map not unlike this giant one. The first thing that came to mind was rocket boom. I was gonna mention it one day, btu I guess you beat me to it.

If you really want to go all the way! Maybe you should do the show from inside the Christian Science Mapparium in Boston someday. It would be the ultimate map set. Here is a link: http://www.schulershook.com/ld/showcase/em/nosearch/marybaker_image1.html
It would be halucinogenic. You could fling your chair (and hair) to the far corners of the earth with 3D abandon. Perfect for your new wide screen. Just don’t mention the Scientology thing while you are there.
It’s so great to be able to change the whole set just by “buying” a bigger map (You’ve probably had hundreds sent to you. Do you think a map company would advertise? That wouldn’t be intrusive, and you’d have a new set every week).
Now let’s get down to business. Rolling Stone! I am so impressed. Some day…the cover. Get out the old Dr. Hook record (look it up kids).
Wow ZeFrank was zinging Amanda today at his Vlog. I hope you plan some form of retaliatory strike? You better. He says you are obsessed with numbers….Hmmmm
Hey, I’ve seen it bef…
Oh. Never mind.
Smart, articulate, funny, drop-dead gorgeous… the world isn’t just on the wall behind you Amanda, it’s also in the palm of your hand.
That’s an interesting point Bhop. I know that there are several contributors to this comments page that are going to rush down to the Mapparium to buy season tickets. They seem to love the sound of their own voice.
Amanda, I knew you were a map woman. And let me just say, what could be more cool than a woman who is into maps. It show an intelectual, quirky substance not commonly found in the rabble. Modern utilitarism does not encourage such pondering because it is said to boggle the mind. Maps are cool because they are such abstract representations of things too big for the human brain to process. You know the little ol’ person on a big ol’ planet thing.
Great work.
Hi,
On Tuesday’s episode, there was no audio for me in the Quicktime version. This problem seems to be occurring more frequently.
Has anyone else come across this issue or is it my Quicktime settings?
If I had to guess, I’d say maybe some shows are recorded in 5.1 and others aren’t? Or something to do with audio encoding?
There was also no audio in the Dave Winer episode.
As far as I know, this is the only video podcast this happens with.
I am glad to see you did get that BIG MAP you had your eye on. Great wat to spend that Ebay Ad money!
Amanda- MUCH BETTER! This is what I tune in to your show for is to know what is going on in the world of tech. Thanks for telling us about the Worldmapper site and the basic brewing show was funny.
Now about your map: I think the map is excellent but I think your really want to have North America over on the left side of the screen rather than have yourself out in the middle of the Pacific. The desk looks good as well.
Please do tell your liberal friends that if they want to protest silently hey it is an idea that should be expanded to all topics and should be done continiously.
That aside, this conservative is looking forward to casual Friday with the hope that I see something like the quality Dave Winer interview.
Cheers,
RF
I’m so psyched Amanda put my coffee mug on the set! Product placement for the first decade of the 21st century.
I’m just getting into this vlog thing….
So far RB is my fave. Perhaps its Amanda’s big maps. (somebody had to say it!)
Or the cute format….or….
It’s very good. Congrats on all the big league attention.
to get paid it’s the friendlier gesture i know. $;)
The map gets any larger you will just have your address on the wall.
i haven’t been keeping up with rocketboom for a few weeks.
today i tuned in. and remembered why i love it so much.
see you tomorrow!
You could have got a Peter’s projection map…..
Thank you, again, for the friendly gesture. ;) oh, and thanks too for theshow tip. As these Vlogs get more interesting and smart, though, I worry that my non-TV religion (accept on the treadmill) might begin to impose on my time. Hmmmm…Am I actually witnessing human beings communicating on a new level??? Quite possibly. No, definatley…
OK so what scary ass catastrophe does the UN have planned in the next 300 years? I mean if the worlds population is only expected to go up by 3 billion in 300 years, and we have gone up around 1 billion in the last 30…what gives?!?!! I’m scared…. hold me!!!
Thanks so much for this episode. I really like interesting new things, and BookCrossing is definitely one of them. I have next to me my first BookCrossing book to be released the next time my parents go out somewhere public. Thanks a bunch, this is definitely going on my favorites list.
Where have I been, under a rock? This vblog, rocketed right into my heart along with the polka dotted cup!!
