end of rant !?
:(
good show .. .
Wall Mart: first roketboom flah mob?
i love the power of internet.
keep going.
I know the problem of my show compared to yours. I’m not sexy.
bravo!
(Gandon toujours avant moi petit filou !)
The mayor of the relevant town (the local equivalent of bumblefuck arizona, here in the Netherlands) has banned sheep advertising, so now…
the sheep wear similar things but with ‘thank you Mayor!’ on them.
As has been said by Rick earlier, the sheep need to wear those things.
The advertising price paid was 1 euro (1.25 or so dollars) per sheep per day. I assume that the company in question provided the ’sheep sweaters’.

There’s a fun ten minute live broadcast everynight from a guy in Florida. He does it from his bathtub.

PS: I recently videotaped a short piece with Stephen King. When I’m done editing it I’ll send it to you :)
Remember the song “Sixteen Tons” by Ernie Ford. Maybe someday we can all work for and buy from Wallmart. …”I ooooowe my soul to the company stoooore”…

Amanda…What happened to the t-shirt contest?
I couldn’t agree more! A rally against Wal-Mart?? Pity democrats always like to shot themselves in the foot. I agree with Steve above if minimum wage was to high no one would go to school. As a result there would be a job shortage (to many people looking for low end jobs). Also the corporations like Wal-Mart would probably figure out ways to become less dependable on “expensive” employees. So the only good your rally will do is cause a higher unemployment rate.
i like how you click stuff.
don’t knock wal mart too much, cause you may need a job someday handing out carts :)>
see you on cspan today (m in the class)
Wow, the comments are just overflowing with the milk of human kindness. I earnestly hope none of you warm-hearted folks ever find yourselves in a position of need. In case you haven’t noticed the cost of college has been steadily increasing, while the availability of scholarships and grants are steadily decreasing. But then I suppose by your reasoning the poor should just go ahead and die and reduce the surplus population. And a degree, while vital, is no guarantee of a ‘living wage’ these days. I am a college teacher with a Masters degree trying to keep a wife and child fed, clothed, and insured on a little over 35K a year.
Leron -
I loved your satirical essay. Can I suggest a title?
“CEO Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Walmart”.
Here’s another salient point the left wing anti-WalMart crowd always misses: WalMart actually raises the living standards of low income consumers, by providing them with goods and services they would not otherwise be able to afford.
I don’t really fall into that category, but I do shop there. Being a stay-at-home “house-husband,” I tend to split my grocery shopping between Kroger and WalMart. Over the past six months or so, I’ve made a point of asking WalMart employees at the check-out stand if working there is as bad as everyone says it is. I’ve probably asked this to almost 20 employees.
Nobody, not one person, has said, “yes, it is.” The worst they ever say is, “well, it’s not the greatest, but I’m not gonna work here forever.” Which is exactly as it should be.
At any big company one can find disgruntelled employees if one looks hard enough, but the “terrible awfulness” of employment at WalMart is simply a leftist lie.
If you don’t like the Bush administration, check out “West Wingers” on SHOUTBOY… http://www.shoutboy.com
I’m no huge fan of the Walton family’s business practices, but before we get too much of a “holier than thou” attitude, remember that it’s not the Waltons spending billions of dollars at Wal-Mart each year, it’s us. We let Wal-Mart happen because it’s faster and cheaper. Next time you hear “attention Wal-Mart shoppers”, don’t forget their talking to YOU.
Thank you for citing the amigofish site. What a tremendous resource.
Useful and entertaining! I’m in love.
Enjoyed the V-cast. I just wanted to pass on that I found my way here because of the Business 2.0 article. I hope it draws more visitors (consumers) for you. Good luck.
Wal Mart did $348 billion worth, yes
$$$BILLION dollars of Business with Communist China last year alone. The country that has set up concentration camps for hundreds of thousands of Falun Gung members. They are murdered at the drop of a hat and their body pats are havested FOR SALE. .They will supply you with a lung, kidney or cornea wthin 2 weeks, sometimes as quick as 3 days, showing you how many members have been rounded up in cages.
There is a holocaust going on right now but Bush & Gates and American business turn a blind eye, unless they have one, then they can just order another through Wal Mart, China’s Imperial Champions.
Remember the lady who was screaming at the Chinese leader last week, the leader who was schmoozing with the Prez and Bill Gates.
Well, her name is Dr. Wong… and what she said was stop the torture, stop killing our members and we will forgive you.
Did you know Falon Gong is all about peace: exercise, meditation, prayer… non-violence (google it to get the truth)
This is the regime WAL MART is sooooooo proud to do Business with.
This is the regime where WAL MART is building other WAL MARTS.
….and they are not the only American business doing Business with this disgusting murderous regime.
China supplies nuclear technology to North Korea, Iran and any other regime who are ready to Jihad America out of existence.
This protest should go on for weeks. But no, little Johnny needs his stuffed Panda bear at 50% off.
America is shooting itself in the foot and WALMART is the biggest culprit. There are countless other US companies doing business with CHINA
The other stuff about wages…that’s been known for at least 10 years…no union, no full-time employees….etc. etc.
Rant and you shall be free.
Verse 2:22 of Amandology
Re Walmart, what someone should do is create a videogame that lets us take pot shots at the Walmart board of directors… with water ballons of course ;) …
http://www.walmartstores.com/GlobalWMStoresWeb/navigate.do?catg=502
And past directors too, INCLUDING that witch Hillary Clinton who was their lobbyist for years.
Of course, Hillary was also head of the Young Republicans in college, so it’s hardly a surprise she’d be on their board.
Incidentally, the pink lipstick with pink shirt was a nice touch.
Regarding my rant read this article:

AND BOYCOTT WALMART AND ALL PRODUCTS MADE IN CHINA!
Wonderful show. Very interesting. And Amanda. You’re amazing. As for Walmart? I actualy live in a town where the citizens make great efforts to keep the big boxes out. So far, so good, but Walmart is relentless in trying to ruin the individuality of small towns. Doesn’t Walmart have enough damn money?
On a lighter note, how come so many Right Wing Bushites tune into Rocketboom. Doesn’t Laura Ingraham have her own site? There’s a cute little Rebublican. Mean as a rabid Coyote, but cute. Of course, not nearly as cute as Amanda.
BOYCOTT WALMART AND ALL PRODUCTS MADE IN CHINA!
Excellent idea — I never shop at Walmart — but almost impossible to boycott Chinese goods altogether. Once I went to some store — Target? Kmart? — and virtually every item I picked up had been made in China. However, folks trying to buy as much American-made goods as they can might want find this web site useful.
Excellent posts, Leron & B-man! Nice show, Amanda!
Protests are good ideas.
Voting with your dollar and your vote are also good ideas.
So’s objective research to come to an informed decision.
K then.
Amanda- Oh dear. The fact is they aren’t treating their employees like crap. What are you smoking? You are buying into this stuff so you can go to cocktail parties in the Hamptons. You did a lot of other good stuff today but I got to go through this with you. Of the 33,840 total number of Wal-Mart Associates in New York the average wage for them is $10.17 an hour. Hardly slave labor. Wal-Mart employees get get four percent of their pay placed in a 401K plan.
Now for the big kicker issue that libs are concerned about: Do they provide health care for their employees? The fact is Wal-Mart provides Health Insurane to 1 million people with a choice of 18 different plans for as little as $11 dollars a month in premiums and 30 cents a day for dependent children and this gets them health care at the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, and Stanford.
Wal-Mart has a huge impact on the State of New York they spent $11,354,000,888 (11 trillion with a T) on merchandise with 2,614 different New York companies which supports 173,000 New York jobs outside of Wal-Mart. (Hopefully this is offsetting the 210,000 people that just left the New York City Metro area in the last census. But then again this will allow Ben to win since the conservatives have left) And you want to talk about taxes? Wal-Mart paid 339 million dollars in sales taxes the state of New York and another 55 million in state and local taxes in the Empire state on Top of that.
Amanda what I want to know who is bankrolling this protest? What are their motives? Because I will bet it is the union guys. The same union guys that have run General Motors in to the ground.
You know Wal-Mart is the place where the people where people who supposedly are those that Democrats support shop. Wal-Mart is out there trying to make things cheaper for them and yet the mighty elitist limosine liberal left is out there attacking them. But America is doing well with the Wal-Mart smiley and without the left.
To the Retard: Yes I forgot to tell her to throw those bones. Hopefully she doesn’t use a caveman type delivery service to do it. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/70677/fedex_caveman_2006_superbowl_commercial/
I don’t think we are hypocrtical as you say but we are screwing up on two points. A) Spending B) Immigration. Both issues that should be in our back pocket. But nonetheless, I think the totality of what we are doing in the GWOT- Global War On Terror and with the economy booming I think we should be fine come fall. Gas Prices I think will fall come summer as the head of OPEC has just said. Besides Howard is hiring party workers in Missippi and poor Ben probably won’t get the money if his race is marginal come fall. For naming yourself a Retard you are remarkably fairs. Kudos to you.
I want to close the loop on something else. When I posted what was in the Powerline Blog “It sure beats the heck out of Rocketboom” That was a post title on the Powerline blog. One of the most respected Conservative Blogs out there. That post when on to introduce Michelle Malkin show. My point in sharing it with Amanda (if you read the final paragraph after the post) is the hope she will look at what those guys are saying constructively and say how can I bring these guys in even though I may not agree with them? Amanda has a great format and we all learn so much about new websites and gizmos and things like it. I honestly think the left wing stuff kills the good here. I don’t want to see my conservative friends boycott it because she does have talent and this is so well put together but they may feel like they have no other choice. Oh well enough of my rant.
God bless America! Shall we all praise God that us Rebublicans will be saved on Judgement Day. So exploit this planet as you will my fellow Americans. Pave it, feast on its spoils. God bless Walmart! A fine, God- fearing enterprise. Good night.
More rants!
(well-thought, opinionated girls are hot!)
RF,
What is this union guys conspiracy theory? Do you live in the 20th century? Unions are virtually nonexistant, except in a few specific, old companies that still cling to the past.
Please, just stop posting. You aren’t convincing anyone that God and the Republic Party have made America a better place to live in the last 6 years.
Is Walmart bigger than US gov? I thought US gov was the long-standing biggest employer. Maybe the “non-governmental employer” was dropped for brevity.
Seeing as how we have a standing military, federal departments, and various congressman who debate about various things, I don’t think Walmart is going to overtake them anytime soon.
Ok I got the number wrong but I thought you said you weren’t going to feed the RF-leron? Is that not a contradication too? We do have a 4.7 unemployment rate. That is certainly living proof that my guys have made a difference. We have stopped terrorist attacks on American soil. We got Saddam. Under your guy Clinton we were getting attacked all over the place, Somaila, the USS Kohl, the Kobar Towers all the while Clinton was soley focused on teen smoking. The CIA and the FBI couldn’t talk to one another until we got the Patriot Act. But if you want to get even more specfic in New York City when Rudy Guliani took charge Times Square was cleaned up and no one would say that Rudy wasn’t the man for the job during 9-11.
You know where are you guy’s ideas and why aren’t your guys saying them? The problem is if they were honest about them they would get defeated.
Union guys funded the campaign against Wal-Mart in Maryland. They ran TV commericals on that issue. They are heavily trying to unionize Wal-Mart and their attempts have failed. They are virtually nonexistant but they are trying to comeback through Wal-Mart.
The Retard asks a good question who do I think should be the next president? My answer would be Newt Gingrich. I know that would make leron cringe but I think Newt is a very very forward thinker and he is the type of person every time he speaks you learn something. The problem is he is more like the people that showed up at the Declaration of Independance rather than the people that showed up to sign the Constitution. But nonetheless I don’t see anyone with the governing capability that he has in the field yet. But that could change.
How would I feel about Rudy? You are kind of catching me there because I did say he was the only guy that could run 9-11 in New York. Rudy if I have read the press clips right is trying to make overtures to Social Conservatives and you need to be both. We’ll see when he gets to Iowa.
About Joe Lieberman: I hope he pulls out his primary in CT. And you Democrats who read this blog in NY should skip the Wal-Mart protest and hop a train to New Haven for Joe for his campaign. He is definitely a guy who calls it. Without him in the Democratic party you don’t have anyone in there who has a Churchillian vision of what is going on with the dangers we face with Iran and Al-Qeada. In terms of on the ticket Joe has too many positions that are indifferent yet he is a true statesman and a stand-up guy.
1/3 of government workers are union? How do you invent these numbers? If you are going to claim something like that, you should provide a reference.
I don’t recall an Army Civil Liberties Union, or State Department Employees Circular 13, maybe theres a National Security Affiliate Number 57? Otherwise, I assume you just pulled that 1/3 number out of… the air.
I bet thepost before mine gets exploded.
As it should. Dave Mabee should read Dave Notachance.
Sei fantastica!
You are fantastic one.
:-)))))

Oh my gosh, this is so right on. Just today I had a Wal-Mart employee come to my door with a gun and force me to buy their products! They said they’ll be back to force me to work for them, too! I’m scared, I wish Uncle Sam would do something about these criminals.
I agree that Wal-Mart is bad for America, I work for “the highest paying retailer” in America. I have been boycotting Wal-Mart for ten years, I haven’t shopped there in that time and will not in the future. There are however several other retailer that have the same practices and wages they are just not as large so not to attract so much attention. The low wage for employee’s is not the employees fault, it is in management, Wal-Mart doesn’t underpay there employees because they have to so they can make profit, it is so they can make more profit. If everyone in America had the education to make twenty dollars an hour then Wal-Mart would just employ illegal employees to fill there positions, Oh wait! They already do that!
We all pay for the Wal-Mart employees, please don’t let your children grow up to work at Wal-Mart.
