Re Bruisin’ Cruise:
I hate the guy even more than the next, but you gotta remember–these stars are just people–sometimes not so smart. They might have had a great time in Drama Club, or were born in a Drama Club. So they might be great actors–and maybe he is.
But we give way too much expectation to Tom, et. al. because we see so much of him–like you might expect more from one of your friends that you actually know. You may actually know that they’re not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but you let it go if they join a cult because, hey, they’re not that bright. You might even rescue them if you love them enough.
But we don’t need to rescue Tom, Katie or anyone else stupid enough to be stupid–and do stupid things. Tom’s actions re Brooke/Matt are only his “person” overwhelming a role set by some director for him to “be.” He was just himself–not thinking through his actions, etc.
Just like we do sometimes when we’re not being smart.
Consequences are a bitch–especially for celebs that we “know” so well because of the media.
I just don’t expect much from Tom because he’s really not capable of us loving more than the performances he gives under direction. He’s just a person in some very big shoes–way to big for his britches without Drama Club!

Classic Amanda. Maybe you’ll get sued by both Tom Cruise and Steve Jobs. As you know using anything Apple if you are not Apple is tantamount to blasphemy. If Tom Cruise wants to have a tantrum over this I am sure you can provide a couch for him in front of the map to jump around on. Plus, I wouldn’t worry too much.I am sure that there is a long line of people upsetting him from South Park, Scary Movie 4, the NY Post, etc. It will be a long time before they get to you. I was at the pioneer theater last night and was excited to be there. It was great to watch your movie and get to meet everyone who makes Rocketboom a success. I was impressed with all of your humbleness, good nature, and accessibility.
You said that after leaving the theater you were going to do your casual friday post and then I saw it this morning. It was great!
I wasn’t sure how you filmed these, a couple at a time?, a few days in advance? etc.

I used to criticize Tom Cruise, but he started stalking me, and then I realized that (1) every religion was basically started by a crazy guy in the desert, and (2) every religion has crazy ass beliefs about stuff like eating placenta. If we start throwing stones, where do we stop?
No Boomer- There is a difference. You see the definition of Religion is man’s belief that he on his own can earn his way to heaven. There is no way any of us can please a God that can cause us to be with a snap of his fingers and earn our way in to heaven. That is where Christianity comes in. Christianity says that we are all sinners and have fallen short. Therefore Christ went to cross for all of us and he rose again on the third day. He took the punishment. No one was able to produce his body afterwards and drag it through the streets of Jerusalem. He was who he said and he rose again. I dare Tom Hanks to show me the body in his new movie because he can’t.
But we all have a choice you can try and earn your way in to heaven or you can just accept what Christ did.

I’m honestly curious why it’s a trend that major religions are started in the desert. Think about it. LRon Hubbard started Dynatics in Arizona. Jesus in Jerusalem. Mohammed in Saudi Arabia. Moses in Egypt. Joseph Smith started in New York but soon migrated his followers to Utah.
Why are people in deserts more likely to found religions? What are people in snowy climates doing with all their time that they aren’t using it to found new religions?

Mess- Uh I don’t have religious beliefs. You failed to read what I wrote. You see if I had religious beliefs I would believe that I myself by my own efforts could earn my way in to heaven. I would believe that by sharing this with you I could earn points to get in. No it doesn’t work that way. I would believe that I could give to a church or what ever else or I could be just a good person and get through the pearly gates. Even if I became the President of the United States it wouldn’t work.
Now on the other hand I do have Christian beliefs. I believe that Christ went to the cross and rose again. He took that punishment. I don’t have to do a thing more in this life other than accept him and invite him to my heart.
While all of these other people in this world are beating themselves silly wondering where they are going to go when they die. I know for certain that I will be in heaven with Jesus not because of anything I did but because of what he did for me.

Divet Productions is a group of young people (14-16 year olds) who enjoy making short films. We have been making films for over 2 years, but only recently have stepped up the filming to a more serious level. Check out our latest movie.
From what I read you can be Scientologist and Catholic, too. So the comparison doesn’t quite make sense. Also, the news reported Katie did have an epidural. That’s not so unusual. Many women plan to tough it out but end up getting an epi after experiencing the pain. My last point is that when I look at what the things that most ‘religions’ claim are important(i.e. treating people kindly and actually living your life as though you are trying to uphold the tenents of the religion), Scientlogists and the other group many find wierd, the Mormons, compare quite favorably to most in my experience.

With all this apathy run amuck these days — why are people not trying to fix the wrongs done by these self-serving, pompus,short-sighted, and (down right) evil corporations who push the right wing agenda as if it was the will of God. Ammanda you know how to spend your own money better than Washington does. This guy has no clue that when you raise taxes you lower the amount of money that comes in to the federal government. You see the Bush adminstration has cut taxes and the amount of revenue taken in by the Federal government has increased.
Let me quote a fameous liberal at you here “I believe tax rates are too high and tax revenues are too low.” You know who said that? That wasn’t Ronald Reagan that was JFK. JFK went on to lower tax rates and he created a economic boom that lasted to 1969 until the LBJ and the Great Society ruined it.
But you have to give Mighty Max credit no Democrat would say what he just said because he would be cruicfied by the voters yet that is what they think. Walter Mondale was the last honest liberal when he said he would raise taxes. What happened was a 49 state rout. However, in the meantime I am just so happy to see people like Mighty Max screaming and not in power to impliment their ideas.

a sad truth can be so very funny - and the only way to make people aware of the dangers this strange money-sect inherits to the free thinking world. Here in Sri Lanka, the Scientologists came in hords after teh tsunami and since then they´ve been pesting people by saying their Xenu-Stuff is a form of Buddhism - of course that´s exactly what it sounds like: riddiculous. Nevertheless they´re still doing it, trying to convert natives from Buddhism to Scientology. Gov. here is thing of kicking those guys out of the country… Should be done in other places, too if you ask me.
Amanda, keep up the good work - and don´t let yourself be harassed by S. - coz that´s what they just love doing, when you mock their flagship hero Tom “Dumb” Cruise or have the guts to not agree with their nonsense belief…
