If you liked “Rabbits” you will just adore “Eraserhead” by the same artist. I actually know people who have an “Eraserhead” sort of life. They are still looking for their ideal woman: the Lady in the Radiator.
If we all love David Lynch, perhaps we can all love him enough to not watch his pirated films on YouTube.

Even though we got less than a minute of footage, you did a great job using class’s discussion. I personally beleive that our conversations about the political use of vlogs was one of the most important topics discussed that night. Keep up the good work Amanda!

This thing about being tied into poor design when you put something on youtube or many other places is an excellent point.
But more important is - What is up with these snooty professors? Is this an east coast thing? Am I just too insulated from academia? I thought you were very restrained, Amanda. If I were there, I would have had to do something - something…ugly.

NYU professor guy may just have been having a bad moment. He can’t be that dumb. Maybe he was just playing devil’s advocate to promote discussion.
Political vlogs will become more and more popular. It’s inevitable. Here’s why.
On balance, vlogs will actually give candidates more control over their image and message not less. That’s the part that I think the NYU guy may have missed.
It may be the best way for voters to connect with the candidate in way that it is controlled by the candidate.
For example, official websites for candidates are so popular and essential, because they inexpensively give candidates more control over their image and message.
Please be careful whipping around the paper everyday. You’re going to cut your eye with a paper cut. I’ve heard it happen to two people.
Or put your glasses back on I guess.

Amanda: Here’s the deal. RB is a medium on the ascendant. It has become a constant to many people. The choice to keep the same set is part of that constant. You have established a life pattern where you are at the beck and call of the Vlog. Not really any different than a performer who is expected to perform on Broadway 8 shows a week. It is what you do. You, in a way have invented yourself as AMANDA. Who is a person that you let us see in a way you want us to see you. You may be limited by technology, budget and time but nobody ever said that there was a lack of personality, creativity and at times, provocation. All of that keeps the program alive, vibrant and startlingly fresh, even with the above limitations. To get back to the apposition that you commented on above. You are lucky in all of this. It is our good fortune that both you and Andrew are as talented as you are so that you create this little gift for us every day. I don’t think that you are in danger of losing your soul here or will ever do anything that doen’t feel right to the both of you. If only some of your critics had your talents. You make a lot of people happy. Even little Jeremy couldn’t be sad anymore once you came into his life like you come into ours. Thanks.

Thanks for elaborating on the Professor’s comments. I’d love it if you would post the whole hour. I’m a college teacher myself, and sometimes I find myself expressing viewpoints that I don’t necessarily agree with in an attempt to show all sides of an issue and to get the students thinking. And I can certainly see why someone would be reticent about their image being used without their permission on the internet. Many people from my generation and older still think of the internet as a ‘new-fangled contraption’, and don’t realize its power yet. I just hope that the politicians who embrace that power are the good guys…or gals.

In my book, just the fact the professor had you in the class and allowed you to tape it means he’s exordinary. Kudos to him. Kudos to him for allowing his image to be posted on web. Kudos to him for putting his image out there (here) for mashups. Unlike a politician, he had nothing to gain, but still he did it. Kudos to Professor Phillips. If he was “selling†anything, it was thoughtful discussion, and we bought it.
Amanda you mentioned that you feel like your selling a “personalityâ€Â. I’m thinking that you’re selling a brand, aka your product’s (RB) personality. For politicians, their product is themselves, their brand is their personality. What gets people to the polls is their emotional connection to the “brandâ€Â, the politician’s personality. That is why there is no substitute for “pressing the fleshâ€Â. Maybe vlogs can really help create that intimate feeling of “knowing†a candidate, unlike commercials, signs, etc.
Best RB I’ve seen in about… a week, give or take a day or two.
Loved the comments about the uni-d forklift. Gosh, if only they could make cars that way. Parallel parking would be soooo much easier.
