  3. I think I heard Amanda say Tom Cruise was a “Christian Scientist”…if so, that’s a new one to me. Tom is reportedly a “Scientologist.” Some may argue but in my book there is a big difference between the two.

  4. the burger king ice creams we’re actually pulled after muslims complained that it looked like the word allah - and found it offensive.

if you’re going to regurgitate a story at least tell all the facts instead of spinning it into bullshit oblivion.

the muslims finding an illustration of an ice cream offensive is as stupid as those who find a red curve offensive because ‘hey! it looks a bit like a cresent moon and muslims are all murderous bastards!’

all those getting their knickers in a twist are officially idiots.

I’m not sure you should insult people about making typing / spelling mistakes. You substituted were for we’re. Correct me if I’m wrong.

  18. “Win the web” — He means Microsoft intends to buy it. Has anyone noticed that MS is in negotiations with Time Warner to *buy* AOL? And that AOL still owns Netscape? and that Netscape engineers working for AOL are responsible for the Mozilla project in large part, including Firefox? So that MS *wins* the browser wars, after all! Horaay!! (?)

Whatever happened to anti-trust in this country? Oh. Yeah. Bush. Of course.

  24. One slight correction: Tom Cruise is not a Christian Scientist. He’s a member of the Church of Scientology, which is in now way affiliated with Christian Science.

Actually, Tom Cruise being a scientologist just is another whay of saying he’s a whacko and must still be stopped from killing wildlife in the southern hemishpere ;-)

  25. Here’s the embarrassing thing: I actually had to review “Jackal of Nar” for the paper I used to work for. And I still didn’t remember the sword’s name. As Amanda says, “I may have skipped a little.”

  26. If Christian Scientists aren’t Scientologists, then surely they must be the people reporting for the Christian Science Monitor, right?

  28. A journalist working for the Christian Science Monitor does not have to be a member of the Church of Christ, Scientist.

The Monitor, up until the mid-90’s, was recognized as being one of the few truly unbiased sources of news worldwide, on a par with the BBC. Unfortunately, the Monitor became overly ambitious, branching into international broadcasting (shortwave), purchasing a Boston TV Station and using it as a flagship for a 24 hour Monitor news and public affairs cable channel that nearly sank the Monitor in a sea of red ink.

  29. Quick Disclaimer: I am not now, nor ever have been a Christian Scientist. I believe it is every person’s right to choose which deity they wish to honor, or no deity at all, and respect their right to do so. I, personally, am a curmudgeon by nature. (sending readers off to their webster’s to look up curmudgeon)
