It seems like the doctor could have taken an extra 2 minutes to put the tape on uniformly. Granted, it doesn’t matter a bit in a technical sense, but in things like eye surgery, attention to detail seems kind of important. I might suggest rather than using non prescription glasses, you simply remove the lenses so that it is obvious that you are simply observing a customer request. Or, you could continue with quality content as you have, and not stoop to gimmicks. If you surrender to the glasses crowd, soon the bare feet people will start wanting you to prop your feet up while doing the show….
it IS a terrible shame about the glasses! I really, really liked them. They suited you, too (too few people care about the kind of glasses they wear… do i sound geeky saying this?).
Well, anyway. Hang on tightly, let go lightly.

Glad the eye surgery went well. But yeah, the goggles and tape look did give you that crazy lady at the bus depot look.
Miss the glasses, although your surgery will improve the vision of your eyes. I wonder what your vision was before lasik surgery, because mine isn’t that good (use glasses for driving).
Loved the XBox 360 “Black screen of death”. If its from Microsoft, you know that it was meant to happen that way. Makes the “blue screen of death” look childish.

I’m afraid I have to agree with the other posters about missing Amanda’s glasses. I visit RB for the content, but the glasses added a little something special for me.
I think I’m going to miss the glasses. Can you just where the frames without the glass?
The observation on Paris Riots was a little thin. Seems that this is the tip of the iceberg. Muslim young people have long complained about discrimination in France. France has the largest muslim population in Western Europe, nearly 4 million people.
The French government apparently took the tacked that Muslims now living in France should become more “French”. Example, banning headscarfs in schools. This has apparently had opposite effect angering many muslims. French apparently forgot the concept”Viva La Difference”
when it came to ethnic groups who have relocated to their country in great numbers. I do not like lawlessness but only have to look to American history to understand that discrimination breeds such reactions.

Amanda, as someone who has had perfect vision all his life, and is suddenly faced with holding books out at arms length, I applaud you and your quest to be free from visual appliances. While I’m a relative newcomer to the Rocketboom family I think you are awesome no matter what’s on your face. Beauty shines from within, and you are positively radiant! :-)
Chad Chesterfield doesn’t seem to be a real guy. He wears the same glasses as you do (did?) … and can’t type very well. What’s up with his big cat box right there in the shot? Like a guy that classy would have a cat.

No, I can’t get past the thing about the glasses either. They looked very sharp, like they belonged on your face — Like being Laverne without the L, America without election day…
Can’t really speculate as your reasons, but I sure hope it wasn’t that all-too-common womanly issue of being afraid to actually look as smart as she really is.
Then again, being a 4-eyes for more than 20 years, I wish I could just laser my glasses away too. No guts — and afraid of what happens after 5-10 years post-lasik.
As annoying as my specs are, they make a great prop too — they make ME look smarter than I really am!
I have to say I am one of the many who will miss the glasses. Oh well, it’s Amanda’s choice after all.
Short of selling them on eBay, why doesn’t Rocketboom hold a raffle, with the proceeds going to help something someplace. I’m sure one of us will pay a lot for them!

I was catching up on my Rocketboom viewing today and nearly fell out of my chair upon seeing the fractal food! THANKYOU! See, I’ve been carrying around a picture of that exact type of plant as my cell phone wallpaper for weeks, asking people what it is. I saw it in the grocery store, but there was no label! and I couldn’t find anyone to tell me what it was… until now :) Finally, my mystery is solved! Who would’ve thought it would be this way. lol.
