  5. Today’s Rocketboom was a nice oasis of calm in a normally busy day. Thanks for sharing, sms;) ! Those vocal harmonics were amazing! I’ll certainly be looking up Stimmhorn in the near future.

On a side note, I enjoy the people who complain [see previous posts] when they don’t get the exact same experience as yesterday on this show. It’s funny and silly. I thought variety was why we watched it. Not to mention the spice of life. It’s kinda sad too, when you think about it. It’s people like that who keep America in the homogenized doldrums of mediocrity. Guys, go watch regular TV. That’s where you belong. Better yet, I’ll mail you a quarter - go buy yourself some culture [sticks his tongue out].

  7. eggzakt,
Please, for the love of god, get off that high horse. Seriously, you might get hurt sitting up that high. You don’t have to find interest in everything even if it’s different or strange. Stop kissing RB booty.

  9. Mesmerizing. Thanks for the short escape from reality. And thank you all the way from Hawaii for the NY Halloween parade clips. I for one appreciate a variety of stories rather than the same old format day in and day out. Besides, the complainers are probably the ones that are fixated on Amanda and get upset when she is in short presence.

Stan, please, for the love of god, get off that high horse. Seriously, you might get hurt sitting up that high.

First, the goal of RB is not to please you and match your personal small interests. If the different and strange don’t appeal to you, it can to others.
Second, Amanda & Co do whatever they want with RB. If they want to put uninteresting stuff (for u), great. RB is their toy. At least, they make a daily successful (for me) effort to color our lifes. Are u ?

ps: I received my T-shirt RB … they are cool. Maybe the simplicity of the logo and the uniform white color will please Stan.
ps2: eggzakt, I don’t have your writer talent, but I agree

  12. Ron,

All I said was I didn’t enjoy the segment. You’re right, this is their toy and they can do what they want. I’m not asking for creative control of their content. I usually like the segments but I didn’t today. Seeing how there’s a COMMENT section on the website I thought that I’d comment. A previous poster took the fact that some of us on here didn’t like the segment and blamed us for the homogenization of entertainment. I was merely disagreeing. I made a comment, not a complaint. I don’t complain about free entertainment.

  16. Move over Buddhist Chanting Music and make room for Stimmhorn. I can’t wait to tell my Yoga instructor about these guys. As soon as I heard the music, I went into downward facing dog.

You guys do a great job of mixing it up. I agree with those that have commented that they enjoy the variety. Peace!

    Happy to ear that Stan.
It’s just that your first post (Has Rocketboom turned into Current TV?) as well as your second for eggzakt (Stop kissing RB booty) was letting some of us thinking more of a critic to RB than a critic of today’s content.
The critic would have been well targeted against Dave (5th comment)too.

Say you don’t like the “German Music” (lol), but not that RB became ‘current TV’.

Even better: ask all the other why they liked today’s stuff … that’s how RB help us fill our brains too.

  18. Amanda’s apparel is in direct violation of the dress code presented on friday. quite recently she was a fairy (a quite nice one minus portman’s wig.)

Do all of you really come here expecting to see CNN? Are you really fooled by that nifty map on the wall? The last time yodeling entered my thoughts was many years ago - I appreciate the variety.

  19. As a German visitor of this site I’m very pleased to find this video of south German music here on Rocketboom.

Way better representation of authentic folk music than this yodeling stuff which is mostly in use for tourist’s entertainment. The so called Volksmusik (see this Wikipedia entry) which gets the most TV coverage here in Germany lost the connection to its origins long ago and mutated into something without heart and soul.

Thanks Rocketboom for this one and for not being predictable ;-)

  20. How cool was that.

We were in Austria last year and found a local church festival (not for tourists). There we heard some really beautiful “folk music” which incorporated yodeling, but Stimmhorn was altogether different

Only missed an intro by SMS Wink…I love that guy.

  23. Hey, cut Amanda some slack. Everyone needs a mental health day.Although, I was looking forward to some stereotypical yodeling, all I got was some special needs yodeler. Just layin’ the hate where it takes me.

  24. To Carlos:
Ok, it’s not from Germany as a country but it is from a German speaking country. We share the same language across Germany, Austria and greater parts ofs Switzerland.

And Amanda announced it correctly as being from the German SPEAKING part of Europe.

Your are proud to say it is not German? Ok, you are part of the Volksmusik mafia. Go sit in a corner …

  25. I think rocketboom is great. You can’t have tentionon the bow everytime all the time. With this time in between with strange (and i think sometimes funny) shows, when the newsreports start again it can only get better. Like, sugarpops is nice but sometimes you also want something else to eat once in a while… Rocketboom keep up the good work and i’m always watching with pleasure, through good and bad…

  26. Hey Stan,

It’s fine with me if you didn’t like the German yodeling, but I still blame you (and just you) for single-handedly homogenizing America’s culture. It’s all your fault!

    : )

    Also:
Just for fun, I looked up the word culture in my trusty dictionary. It states the definition of culture (or the state of being cultured) as the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively and the refined appreciation of this.
My definition is a bit simpler but still seems to fit within this definition. My personal definition of culture is simply having an interest in everything. This also seems to be the very reason why I enjoy Rocketboom.
You’re right, you don’t have to find interest in everything even if it’s different or strange, but you know what? You should. Now run along Stan and be sure to catch that rerun of Friends!

If I have to kiss booty, what better booty to kiss than that of Rocketboom’s?

  29. Amanda & Andrew–Thanks so much for stimmhorn–these two guys from Switzerland are doing something quite amazing with voice & alpenhorn, pushing into a new territory. I love RB, its attitude, upredictability & willingness to try new stuff. No format here. Ignore the negative voices & congratulations on a fantastic show.
