  4. John Bolton’s comments are terrifyingly honest. Here in Canada, I feel a cold chill up my spine and it isn’t because of cold weather!

  5. Wow. This is moving. Bolton’s arrogance exemplifies why the US is hated around the world. If the US is still a world leader (which the role of world leader is much at question) the world deserves better than this asshole sitting anywhere near the UN.

  8. It is not easy to judge a nation’s affairs other than yours, people from U.S. are hated all over the world, and the reasons are diverse; I live in Venezuela (north of South America if any of you wonders…), and all of what we hear from our govt is that you guys deserve all the 7 plagues of egipt on you. Twice.

However, this goverment is a terrible representation of what a left wing totalitarian state can be, so it is impossible to believe that the U.S. govt and people are responsible for every single disgrace in this planet, i can’t deny that missinformation is a common place in CNN and Fox News, and that somehow you have requested and assigned for and by yourself as a nation the rol of a police officer for all the world, with all the burdeons and missperceptions and even abuses that such extrapolation carries; but i also can’t deny that many of our advances as society are thanks to U.S. citizens. So, how can we satanize the U.S. without degrading ourselves as society? how can I say U.S. is evil, and use a computer connected to the internet to do so?

I don’t like left winged goverments, i have seen in my very short life (22 years) that they only bring deterioration, physical social and structural deterioration (for instance, my nation’s currency has been devaluated more than 300% in the last 6 years of socialist goverment).

Even if you also represent the big great racist segregationist and evil enemy for some other people. You, the U.S., are still a bastion of hope and freedom for many opressed regions and people.

I don’t justify the actions of your current leaders, but i still have faith in your people, in your nation. It is not easy to judge a nation’s affairs other than yours.

    P.S. If I made any gramatical/orthographical mistake, I apologize.

    Luis.

  10. I can understand why some people feel this is profound and others are more dismissive. Bolton’s speech blew me away, and hearing all those headlines spoken in sucession did make a strong impact — but it’s true that although the U.S. news-media is not covering these stories very much — these stories are definitely out there — but usually not so succinctly and not adjacent to each other.

  11. THE BEST rocketboom yet! Thank you for the reminder. As grim and frightening news continues to pour in, even in this day of mass internet communication, it is so easy to forget the big picture. Thanks for the reminder.

  16. I loved the ending on this one. Very effective use of the only non-standard ending to a rocketboom I’ve seen yet.

  18. Ugh. How depressing.

Possibly the only amusing thing in this episode is the (intentional?) use of the word “nucular”.

  20. I’m normally very amused by the show and generally enjoy the content. Not so this time. I look to the internet for entertainment, not someone else’s point of view on U.S. politics. We already get tons of that garbage shoved at us by the T.V. networks and the print media.

  21. I love this Rocket Boom!
Great use of the Bolton footage, all at once like that really shows what damage he can do to us if he is confirmed. Also, love the statement about war. To those just looking for entertainment on the internet, and nothing thought provoking -you’ve got it backwards, that’s what the MSM is for.
    More like this please.

  22. Amanda (and the rest of your crew), you rock! Always well produced, always thoughtful (even when you’re being silly), and like this episode, occasionally profound.

Don’t be discouraged from your forays into thought provoking content and soul searching. I think if most of us wanted empty headed, irrelevant entertainment, we’d turn be watching the TV.
