  9. Agree with Cool Cat Matt. This was an interesting store and still an ok vlog (good in fact) in my book, but tread lightly.

Needless to say, this advice is worth every cent you paid for it.

  16. I played Mind Ball at the 2000 world expo in Germany, and it’s totally awesome. Only one weakness: You see the ball creeping nearer, you’re starting to fear you’ll lose, which makes you even MORE nervous and then the ball is again edging closer and closer… sort of a downward spiral.
Mean game, but a lot of fun.

  17. Great episode…a temporary store with such unique stuff, and a whole new mode of marketing, as Amanda suggested “hybrid”

    Feel like I was there.
    Fun
    Thanks

  18. Careful…a three-minute informercial violates the trust of those who come to your site to be amused…just like playing several commercials before the movie you just paid an ridiculous amount to see in the theater. It would have been OK as one feature in the vlog, but not the whole thing…

  22. “The idea of the temporary store…, how did that come about?”

Um… can I take that one?

    “M-O-N-E-Y”

And hey, didn’t we just see this a few days ago? At least that visit provided a little drama when Amanda put some sort of noxious solution in her newly-lasik’d peepers…

This one was just a “Sharper Image for Hipsters” ad (Fleet of Volkswagons? Sheesh!)

    Back to basics, RB!

I tried to reach the place but it was impossible because of the strike of public transport in NYC (joking, i’m from holland) , was not there something to tell about that item or is RB in the end not that actual? (maybe the RB’ers had some difficulty to reach their studio and took something from the shelf?)

Reminds me of the story of a man who when shown a Neiman Marcus catalog supposedly said, “Never saw so much stuff a person could do without”.

  29. Hi Amanda, you’ve probably been told about this many times, but Rocketboom was featured in the German TV show “Polylux” (ARD TV, the prime German TV station) on December 15th. You can check out their website @ http://www.rbb-online.de/_/polylux/index_jsp.html . Anway, I really enjoy Rocketboom and want to thank you and Andrew for the great job you’re doing. Take care, David

  30. Thought Wired guy un peu sinistre then realised it wasn’t just the bad guy monotone. He’s Dean Rooney from Ferris Bueller.

Received my t-shirt today, thank you, and it fits just fine under the arms (I know you were concerned).

Perhaps, in about five months, the weather here will improve sufficiently for me to wear it outdoors. In the southern hemisphere, I suppose, everyone buys each other beachwear for Christmas. In the meantime I could wear it outside other clothes, but that always looks a little off to me. As if you didn’t know any better; as if you got confused while dressing and couldn’t bring yourself to put it right. This isn’t really comment, is it.

Bye, and thanks again for brightening my day twicefold,

    Tom

  31. Amanda,
Wow! Great show this week. If this is temporary, does this pop up all around the US? And if so, any known way of this coming to Atlanta?

Anyways, that mindball thing was truely amazing! I didn’t know technology went that far yet.

And I really want to play my sister with those shock tanks. Ooh! How ’bout playing a game underwater! Whee.

12 years old and loving every minute of it,
    David

  32. This site is addictive!

Couldn’t get the archives to open and am keenly interested in watching every past v-log.

LOL about the store…it’s just the kind of funky quirkiness I’d expect from Rocketboom.

    Amanda and Andrew,

Might have been funny if you depicted the Wired merchandise being FedExed directly to a landfill, where it’s going to end up anyway.

As standard bearers of the vlogging revolution, maybe you should have gone on down to B&H, and had an entertaining conversation with one of those groovy Hasidic gentlemen who could show us wannavloggers which camera to buy to go with all that rad software you’ve got on your tool list. And what about sound? Be our beacon! Take our hands and walk us into the light!

Cameras: recommend any non tape media cameras that work with Macs? Should I stick with miniDV? Like that new sporty Samsung thing you can stick on your head? Looks like the thing for speedvlogging.

Which I just thought I’d made up. But no. I didn’t. I just googled it and there’s already a speedvlogging.com and they have a blurry subway train picture on the homepage and everything.

I know you’re working on a hardware list for the tool page, but damn you guys I got to know NOW.

  34. Hello Wired.com is my home page but I’m not as fond of rocketboom as i used to be. The comments were funnier that the vlog. i guess it is challenging to come up with something new and interesting that everyone likes. I still like you Amanda. Andrew keep up the good work.

  35. Well, I don’t mind you showing cool stores, but I’m too ADD for the one subject episodes. I like the randomness of RB the most. Of course, I’ll be back anyway cause even a less-than-favorite Rocketboom beats no Rocketboom. :-)
