Not to split hairs, but neither Edison nor Augustin nor anyone else was making videos in the 19th century.
Charles: “Not to split hairs, but neither Edison nor Augustin nor…”
Actually, the hair to split here is that this film “predates Edison.” Edison was actually not the first person to put moving pictures on film, he just stole the idea and patented it off of his assistant. The patent was later reversed because Edison was a jerk.
The Lumiere brothers in France also deserve a major tip of the hat for making these moving pictures more than just a labratory thing.
Great show as always Amanda! :) I’m a big fan.
aww geez, all that devil stuff creeps me out!
I actually love these “newsier” shows of your - they’re fun and really informative, and without them the “casual fridays” just wouldn’t be as special.
Oh, and by the way: How many people have already asked you to switch seats for just one show and give Drew the chance to play the anchor man? Because I think that this would be a great idea indeed for a special occasion (like.. a friday).
Keep up the great work,
Daniel B.

I wonder how you get yourself listed in the iTunes video-podcast section… obviously you don’t change your category since your original category is still cited as “news”.

Do you have a grudge against the Santa Guy?
Oh well, another great installment of RB.
-General Ted Williams
Um, Santa’s real name is Kris Kringle. I thought everybody knew that.
Actually, Raemon… it could also be Saint Nicholas…
Amanda, don’t taunt Santa like that or you’ll wind up with nothing but coal in your stocking !!!!
Wired isn’t always on it. i’m still sore at them for the apple death watch.
And yeah, i feel like a second class citizen on the iTunes video podcast area–mainly because i’m not there.
I’m angry boy today!
Video Weblog Awards - vote for Rocketboom in the Best Video Blog category!! Currently they are way behind and need our help!!

If there’s an intergalactic war, we’ll report it
Give Santa a break, it’s his busiest time of the year and he will be in a grouchy mood. If you want to help, save him (Santa) a trip, be naughty!
The YMCA bit was hilarious. Another reason for not buying that toy.
:)
The sweater today is much better than the t-shirt yesterday. The t-shirt didn’t do it for you. Or else, next time, where one a couple sizes smaller.
Yep, as said previously, go to Video Weblog Awards:

RB needs votes !!!
The story of Louis Aimé Augustin Le Prince is very interesting. Some people think Edison may even have had him murdered, as he disappeared and was never seen again.
I believe the wired page count actually refers to the print version, not their web site. I could be wrong, but considering the post starts with “I received this months Wired yesterday” I’m pretty certain they’re talking print issue not web. Loving the RB nonetheless. Keep up the good work.
Amanda:
Using MLK Jr. Day as an excuse to continue to bash the president is in poor taste. Not surprising though that you side with terrorists in clearly objecting to intelligence gathering on those who wish to harm us. Oh yes, the same measures used by every president since FDR, in fact.
Weak effort!
