That was nice…it would have been really funny if you actually did the “dumpster diving.” The “high line” thing was interesting too. I also loved you shaking your head and singing to Chop Suey…I love System of a Down! Keep up the good work.
I’m a-scared of Angry Metal Amandaâ„¢. Seriously, that was hi-larious.
When I was 8 years old, I spent a lot of time with an eccentric trash collector named Harry, who camped out near my mother’s office building. We spent many afternoons together dumpster diving. He showed me all the tricks — look for dumpsters behind retail stores and factories, wear closed-toe shoes. You wouldn’t believe the treasures I found behind this one nature-themed gift shop. Harry claimed you could dine like a king by diving the right dumpsters, but I always turned down his snacks. He passed away about a year ago. This rocketboom made me think of him. Thanks Andrew/Amanda.
Dumpster diving? its something really low-on-budget punx do and maybe some poor people, but its only stealing those peoples living if you dont really need it. System of a down rocked… really i got shocked when you rocked with those 2 nerds, and PLEASE dont do your hair backwards like that, it sucks.
Great. Can’t believe I had to wait ’til noon. Well worth it though.
Excellent.
who were those two rocket geeks? I met a guy once who survived by dumpster diving in
Sante Fe…real eccentric
Jajajaja.
I love that song!!!!!
It’s even better than the real video!!!!!
Jejejejeeeee
Yes Amanda please do go back to the high line even if you do have to get a permit! I’ve seen a lot of stuff about it,including the Joel Sternfeld book of photographs. It would be really cool to see your take on the whole thing.
Keep up the good work!
Very cool. A friend just sent me to this site. I’ll have to visit back often. :)
Brillant!
Why is it by the way that headbanging is so much fun yet looks so hilarious? (I actually liked the angelic-slo-mo-part best!)
Greeting from Europe, where “noon” means: Amanda doesn’t show till about 6 pm.
Re: the second half of the show - desperate times call for desperate measures.
Great stuff, loved the rocket clones jamming to System of a Down…excellent, bought back memories of air guitars to Metallica songs in the ’80s.
Very numa-numa-esque!
Great site, guys. I just have a few technical questions:
What camera do you use for your regular daily reports?
What did you use for your dumpster diving/high line segments?
What did Amanda use for her “Where is Amanda” segment?
Are there any web hosts you’d recommend for video hosting? Would you recommend archive.org/ourmedia.org?
Thanks guys (probably Drew ;). Your site is certainly inspiring.
Oh, and one more thing: I haven’t been able to get your “list” page to display correctly. Is it just me, or is it still in development?
I’m running Firefox 1.0.4 on OS X Tiger.
Great vlog today guys!
dumpster diving is a great way of living in new york city. you don’t need a guide. and you are not taking anyone’s ’supply’ of food. i haven’t had to buy food in such a long time. if one place has already been hit, then i just go someplace else. sometimes you run across the greedy ‘ol lady who is unwilling to share her findings, but generally people are pretty good about sharing what they find. if you are really interested in being led on a dumpster tour in manhattan, then you should try meeting up with the freegans, they are always happy to help someone just getting starting into the world of free living. see them here: http://www.freegan.info.
you rule
lolz… great video… you head-bang like a true metal-head.
Oh wow. That was one funny edition of rocketboom. Loved the delaortofadown. Funny is good. I never know what to expect from yall!
Brilliant! Thanks. Now, on to Crawford.
