Beautifully done, Rocketboom.
BOOOOOOOOOORING
I support gardens, and I understand the importance of honoring Nagasaki - I just didn’t understand this piece. The editing style seemed to be very uncharacteristic of what you all usually do. although I do congragulate you all on always being experimental - I just don’ think this one resonated. For example - the piece from last Friday with Rocketman was edited beautifully.
Sometimes, simple is good, and better than words are images and sensibility.
May I ask where does the music come from?
Very cool.
I actually liked this piece. Of course, nothing is too “out there” for me.
Also… I doubt it was intentional, but the way the war footage was contrasted with the garden footage seemed to carry an air of superiority which made it pretty clear which side won the war.
You could have created the same feel by contrasting the opulent and comfortable American lifestyle with Iraqis suffering as a cynical look at world events… For this reason, I really liked it. I guess the music really made that impression for me. Great job!
By the way, I’m not saying it was right or wrong, I’m just mentioning this from a philosophical, editing theory point of view.
What I see in this film is Amanda embracing America AND the fact that we bombed Nagasaki in order to protect the American way of life, otherwise Rocketboom would be spoken in Japanese.
This is in stark contrast to your often liberal viewpoints. :-)
I, in general, enjoy your views, however seldom share them. Just keeping an open mind.
Do you think that they had to condemn that pond after her having put her feet in there? (ewww)
Regular viewer. Great job guys, keep up the great work.
What was the single-frame subliminal nighttime city scape? I am assuming that it is Nagasaki taken recently.
I especially enjoy reading about how the pieces come together.
Wonderful! It came out just right.
Yes, very uncharacteristic for Rocketboom. One of my favourites. The fact that you could see Amanda speaking but there was no sound made it even more interesting. I was kind of disappointed that this was not intentional ;)
This piece had fresh air and reflection. Now I am happy, and you can continue as you wish. Greetings from Norway!
i thought it was really well done, guys. like raymond, im only disappointed to find out that it was not intentional.
Great work team. I thought it was a fitting tribute and I didn’t get the impression you were belittling what happened in Nagaski at all.
P.S. I guess Microsoft doesn’t want me to view this on my work PC. It crashed my Windows 2000 work PC twice. Yippee!
Beautiful, creative, thoughtful. I would say that today’s piece is one fine short film. Submit it to contests, festivals, something.
I liked hearing from Drew how it came about after I decided I loved the episode.
Unintentional yet beautiful.
Bravo RocketBoom.
Magical! This piece is a very thought provoking remembrance.
The cut from the bumblebee on the flower to the B-29’s…was it serendipity or did you know that the Japanese called the B-29 “The Bumblebee” because of their buzzing and distinctive nose - in any case this was great!
Thanks, Drew, Amanda, and Tricia. I found the piece to be haunting and beautiful.
Been out of the vlogosphere for a couple of weeks so am catching up. I really REALLY loved this. Such beautiful footage… along with the the eerie music. The silent voices went perfectly.
