  2. I must admit I’ve been curious as to what these shows should be called. If you do video, is it a VidCast? On his TechGuy radio show, Leo La Porte, suggested ‘NetCast’ which would encompass everyone I guess but doesn’t designate audio or video for those of us only interested in video… Should there be a designation?

  4. The most important difference between New and Old is that only one of them makes hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars a year

That said, New is way cooler, despite the nerdfest.

  7. Leron, who has the time to sift. That is the major problem with new media.
Wow a billion blogs, vlogs and bogs. I think you’ll find your demographics in the sifters. Everyone else is too busy raising a family, paying the mortgage, carpooling, etc. etc.

    Generation Siftersâ„¢ (just newly coined)
are the only ones with disposable time… or perhaps retirees who don’t play majong.

RB is the only site I visit. I’ll check out the links if they’re interesting, and that’s about it.

Joanne when you get back I highly suggest you get and wear a “Where’s Walter?” t-shirt. The tighter the better.

  8. Who has money to go to this place? Who is funding people to go to this? Who paid to run this show? That’s the real story. C U I   B O N O, folks! Follow the money. I assert it is events like this are facilitating the takeover of the free online media by big oppressive corporations.

  10. Boy, that cowboy hat is going to haunt me. Good thing it’s not in my possession any longer.

That last twirling capture is great at grabbing the feeling we all had at that moment. Look at it again. It’s really interesting, the way we’re looking at things. I just wish your face was part of it, too.

  11. Enjoyable show.

Jack: you raise valid points. One feedback mechanism I’ve noticed from my own blog-participation habits that may slow the ‘big corporate’ sclerosis you foresee is that, once a blog becomes too big and gets flooded with too many commenters, it really gets much less interesting to participate. I’ve all but given up reading/commenting on some blogs’ threads because of the ’shouting in a crowded stadium’ effect. Instead, I’ve tended to gravitate towards blogs that have a nice critical mass where you know the conversation will be lively, but which aren’t so large that your own comments will be lost in the shuffle. (I use “blog” here but obviously this applies to vlogs that incorporate comment participation as well.)

  12. What a lot of masturbation. I’m totally sick and tired of this loathsome self love - its not why any of us watched (past tense) rocketboom in the first place.

  13. Hmmmmm … podcasters pontificating on podcasting … I suppose life and the web are many layered things …

But I agree with the guy who said communicating is about stories … ultimately. And in sharing those stories we gain a sense of belonging … for a story is in essence … a shared experience…

Being faceless and anonymous, the Net does bring in a new dimension … the ability to communicate however one wishes with no need to have serious regard for the social restrictions created by recognition and physical proxmity (both being integral to the phenomena we call “consequences” … I can say that I agree that Joanne should wear a tight t-shirt with the words “Where is Walter” (Crespo) … and I can assure you that I would replay that edition multiple times … however, I probably wouldn’t suggest that at a cocktail party with Joanne (until after the third cocktail)… when its consequences be damned.LOL

But that insulation from consequences (by and large) is not just about the freedom to be flirtatious … its about being able to be totally candid … with total strangers … from all over the world … and THAT can be a source of enormous understanding.

Podcast, blogging and such may in fact be the key in the fall of communisim in China and the dissolution of fanatical jihadism. Where people can share candidly, they can gain understanding… where they gain understanding they can solve differences …

And if they can’t see it my way, they can kiss my ass! LOL

Did I mention the ability to be totally silly before hundreds of thousands of viewers as another plus of the “Citizen Media World?”

    Gotta run. Love you all.

    God Bless,

    Billy Boy the PR Toy

  14. I don’t agree with the naysayers, but I do admit I was reminded just a tad of the last skit of a certain Monty Python episode with all of the ‘I’ll interview you now you interview me’ action!

  16. Joanne;
Okay, so I made a fool of myself! At the PME Expo I had been at the Marriot hotel from Wednesday and Thursday and no networking had happened. During your meal on Fri night I was so “turned around” I mistakenly really “goofed-up” by calling you Amanda. Afterwards I was just totally pissed at myself. I’m a big fan and enjoy all your shows daily! Please forgive and forget!! Next year I plan to do less celebrity searching. Cheers!

  17. It’s funny because Rudy and I always bring our video camera to vlogger events, but rarely use it because everyone else has the interview thing covered!

One of the only reasons we brought our DV Cam with us this time was to get video footage of Ron Moore (Executive Producer, Battlestar Galactica), but we unfortunately missed his keynote because our car broke down!

Great seeing you all this weekend… and, Drew, thanks for not posting the video footage of me tripping on my face in the new AOL offices! Hehehe…
