More proof of peace-loving Islam at work. If people do not accept Islams philosophy, kill them, terrorize them, and intimidate them.

Islam would not exist if it wasnt for Muslims applying the sword to gain converts.

This is very interesting and I appreciate the chance to see it, but I don’t see what it is doing on rocketboom. It seems completely outside it’s scope and I can only forgive that because it was interesting.

For the one millionth time, there are extremists in EVERY religion. EVERY ONE. Don’t generalize.

All you have to do is look at the news (the people of Lebanon rejected Hezbollah in the elections a few days ago) to see you’re just lumping everyone in one pot.

They’re being attacked because people decided that they would take a religion (Islam, though it can happen with any religion) and modify/censor parts of it to benefit their (violent) needs

its a lot more complicated than that , a lot of these people dont have much choice, education or wealth, let alone food, majority is very very poor, u cant describe the conflict in the middle east in a paragraph or a book the size of a room, let alone 1 reason, violence… u try living over there and see how u change

To correct you, the obvious ugly side of several specific religions. And religion isn’t something you can choose to have. Neo Darwinism is a religion, Cosmic Humanism is a religion, etc.. I bet when you posted this you thought of the crusaders and Christians, given how illogical you are. However, the crusaders were not Christians, they were catholics. Catholosism is a cult.

Anyways… Oh, and if you want to argue with this, fine, but don’t go into flame war.

what are you talking about? did you just honestly say you cant chose your religion?i was raised a christian, gave up my beliefs and became an atheist. and again you protest that im illogical for saying that someone should not forget the ugly side of religion. or was it the extremist comment? never the less you are just trying to defend your “cult”. how dare you insult the largest religion in America. and yes Catholicism( spelled with an “ic” not “os”) is the largest religion in America.

Indeed and that’s the problem with most things when they are taken to extremes. Muslums as a people are better than most Americans, but it is the extremists that run the good picture. Same is true in nearly any other area.

great report. i was on a fishing boat one year. 4/5 ths of the crew was from Somalia. they received a green card to attend school here if they worked the whole season. it was hard at first, for everyone, but then we all were so tired we got along well. they told stories much diff than the ones we had been told at the time. the truth im sure is somewhere in the middle.

    Somalia.

    The ultimate unregulated free market.

Everybody free to do whatever they want.

Maybe if you’d listen, you’d understand. No, I did not say that you cannot choose which religion you belong to; that is a human’s right to do. However, you cannot not have a religion. Athiesm is a religion; one that believes in an absense of a God, but a religion nonetheless.

I really don’t care about popularity of a religion. It is a cult. Catholocism says that Jesus is not the only way to heaven, which is what the Bible says, so by definition it is a cult. Don’t say I’m defending.

The ultimate right-wing fantasy is a government that protects individual rights as enshrined in law. In other words, a free market is not the absence of laws (i.e. chaos) , rather its the implementation of proper laws. You so it is absolutely not “everybody free to do whatever they want”. That is a gross misscharacterization of what a proper unregulated free market would look like.

Tell that to the new Republican Party.

We deregulated banking . . . and the banks themselves went bankrupt.

It was 1929 all over again, but without Herbert Hoover in the White House for the next four years, thank God.

As Somalia demonstrates, hating government is as absurd as hating the private sector or hating all churches and community organizers and the volunteer sector or hating the individual or the family.

All of these, the individual, the family, volunteers, community organizers, churches, the private sector, and the public sector all have a proper role to play and each has something to contribute.

The debate should be over who does what best.

That would save us all a lot of ideological namecalling that bores me literally to death.

In providing universal healthcare, if the “public option” turns out to be the higher quality, lower cost option, people should be allowed to choose it!

Why is the private sector quaking in their boots over a little competition?

The answer: Because they know there’s no way they can compete.

When the job is simple enough (mailing checks to doctors!), zero overhead beats for-profit every time.

Nice hearing an American talking about the dream of universal health care to a Canadian…

That’s why my family had to drive to Buffalo for my grandmother right? Because, universal health care gives everyone access to a universal waiting list. The same is true in the UK and the Nordic countries. Sorry to burst your bubble…

    Yeah… except that 1929 wasn’t unregulated…

It’s funny because the government can never anticipate how their regulations are going to fuck up the market.. then when the market fails the left tries to blame capitalism and add further regulations that cause further problems. The banking industry is the MOST regulated industry in the US and no wonder it fell to pieces.

I think people are just being superstitious.

All around the world the government writes a check and mails it to the doctor. It’s not that big a deal. Mailing a check isn’t rocket science.

Don’t believe the hype pumped out by the health insurance industry.

Veterans are faced with a choice between low quality care from the Veterans Administration and high cost care from for-profit health insurance companies.

Veterans deserve another option: the public option.

The public option is you choosing your own private doctors and private hospitals with government paying the bill. That’s the plan that U.S. Senators and Congressmen have and they love it.

Veterans risked life and limb. They deserve no less.
