  1. BronzeGolem says:

It’s amazing that the idea for buying music on demand came in 1991 and yet it would be what, 10 more years before such idea was put in place. Makes you think of how much fear of technology by those with money to make things change can hinder progress. Same thing going on with the relation between all forms of traditional media and the internet.

  2. Trichomes503 says:

I remember collecting those AOL cd’s and throwing them around the neighborhood like frisbees.
    Ahhhhhhhhh, childhood…

  3. benpva16 says:

Yes, I remember AOL and their spammy floppies and CD’s. Those were dark times in my internet surfing. Not to mention 56 k modems…

  4. WOWJBEOWULF says:

@StripyTie12 I know about trolls, it has Oprah Winfrey crying about the “Over 9000″ Internet meme for over-9000 penises that appeared on her chat/message board, and then she went on television and told everyone about it. Discussing AOL, on the topic of AOL that recently bought the Huffington Post, isn’t troll material: I love AOL, it is their retarded class of people who act like they sit in a wheelchair to ban everyone else I disapprove, they need their guardian to give them a game–Hint.

  5. theothertroll says:

AOL and Arianna Huffington – the merger of stupid Liberal fuckers and a stupid female Liberal fucker that the stupid mainstream media Liberal fuckers will think has the best content for all Liberal fuckers – which is why Liberals are a bunch of stupid fuckers.

  6. fildesy999 says:

@XlovesXtoXspoogeX sadly youtube is over run with kids and at that age the hormones are running wild so this is the only thing that they can get their jollies to without the fear of mummy or daddy catching them watching porn and then try to feel like an “adult” by saying “BOOBIES!!!” or “yeah id like totally do her” or “oh my god molly in HD is like all my dreams come true in real life” its sad but its true and it will always be the way

  7. gulllars says:

@TheTramsen this is kinda OT, but reduction in cognitive function is not that common in individuals with CP. I’ve always been mystified by people online calling people behaving stupidly CP. DS or ADD would be better fitting if you wanted to use medical conditions as insults. I know it’s not PC, but retarded and/or childish would be the best fit IMO.

  8. gulllars says:

I actually think AOL’s new strategy of buying up the best content to host in a non-disruptive way is a good one. That’s not to say i like AOL, but it’s a good strategy IMO, and as long as they don’t screw it up, it could result in good things.

  9. gofightlose says:

me and my sister would play crazy aol disk tag. throwing cds around until they hit someone. those were the good old days.

  10. joeshcosmo says:

@rct096 Poor choice of words. If they wanna see her tits then it would seem that they’re not faggots, don’t you think?

  11. Avesfox says:

Ah yes.. AOL.. I remember how we used to cheat them for free internet service… every thirty days before our membership timed out we’d call them up and tell them we’re canceling our service. The operator would talk us out of it with an extended thirty day membership.

Yep… those were the days! Though I do not miss the slow dial-up crap

  12. jp3d2k says:

@fildesy999 “oh my god molly in HD is like all my dreams come true in real life” was actually said by a 35 year old professional cage fighter.

  13. derekcolman says:

@xROBERTxDAVISx . It’s a good deal for me, as I signed up for free broadband with my phone deal with TalkTalk (Carphone Warehouse). At first I suffered lots of drop-outs, but once they got their hands on all the AOL servers the service became excellent. Now I get my landline phone plus 16MB broadband (40 GB monthly download limit) for the same money BT charge just for the phone.

  14. serpentisma says:

@mechanesthesia i don’t why they would. those associations already use fake meat, make shitty cartoons and cast horrible decisions for the populace. i would think the AOL people would look at those three and say to themselves, “cancel the merger. someone’s already gotten to these guys.”

  15. MrWaitholdupthere says:

@TheInunah Thing is, you likley visit AOL content online from all over the place and not evn know it’s aol owned.

  16. uncachable says:

It’s feels really weird saying this, but it looks like AOL is going to be the Google of content, buying and consolidating everything into themselves.

  17. XxSameerxX says:

    @fildesy999

Your sensible rant made me realize I could watch Molly in HD!

Thank you! You’ve made my day, “This” much better :D

  18. bakonfreek says:

thank GEEZUS for molly, or noone on the YouTubes would be smart about current events…or past events…or past and ongoing events…well…events in general. ROCKETBOOM FTW!!!!!

  19. laigiba says:

@fildesy999 While there is some truth to your comment, I’d be willing to have more respect for you if you didn’t make broad, sweeping generalizations. Oh, and it would help if you used proper grammar, too.

  20. Otakkun says:

Dude, I remember all of those floppies! Dx Every day there were more in the mail!

I’m interested in AOL, but not enough to actually go to their website, haha. What was once the king of my computer is now just a footnote in my memory.

Also, that guy must be pissed that his music idea was rejected. Imagine the music download scene hitting the masses ten to twenty years earlier than it did!

  21. allendupras says:

@fildesy999 aaah I don’t think it will always be this way…. youtube is getting more people to subscribe all the time… sooner or later a youtuber will get an older audience to subscribe…. but until that time :( ha

  22. isaachaze1 says:

@WinterInJapan yea, she definately should and i should check it out for her. i’ve got, like, all kinds of medical degrees and probes and stuff. yea, hehe

  23. ogami1972 says:

@laigiba @fildesy999 hear hear! also : molly, boobies, super hot chick with accent, and sex. and news. sexy news. that is all.

  24. technologywontsaveus says:

Normally I like everything beautiful Molly is wearing, but can’t get me to like this outfit, it looks grandma like, not so good. :( But the conent of this video was very informativ and interesting. The last 10 seconds made my heart race, freaking divine! :)

  25. AShelf says:

OMG I still have an AOL 9.0 free trial CD!!

lol… I remember at least once every week or every other week I would be mailed a free trial cd lolol xD

  26. wilsonal66 says:

i remember being a kid and going crazy when i got one of the aol disk … i want to kick my younger self’s ass and when i was a young teen im always microwave them burn aol :) o and molly i dont care what anyone says about you your beautiful

  27. greengardenhose says:

I used to get those cd’s in the thousands as a diligent paper boy… I used a lot of them as ammo in target practice once people hated them

  28. gulllars says:

@joeshcosmo OT = off topic. CP = Cerebral Palsy. DS = Down Syndrome. ADD = Attention Defecit Disorder. PC = Politicaly Correct. IMO = In My Oppinion.

  29. brycet93 says:

@XlovesXtoXspoogeX well i guess this is a good time to clarify a few points
    1) maybe they have molly because she is good at her job?
    2) they should really put her back in the kitchen and have a man do it
    3) i have discovered porn, i choose not to watch it in favor of irl girls
    4) you should get a life and stop commenting about molly, i think you’re jealous

  30. bsabruzzo says:

    Hmmm, I see a trend…

People attack Fox News for a single error 2 years ago and support the heavily biased purchase of Sorros and Media Matters run Huffington Post, calling it a news organization.

And that fake cough is suspicious.

Maybe HuffPuff will report all of the news, but I doubt it.

  31. bsabruzzo says:

It is possible that with Comcast owning MSNBC and Time Warner owning HuffPuff, their news will move from the left to a center left content. Then again, Time isn’t known for being close to the center and Comcast is not off to a great start with their line-up.

  32. fullmetalchemy says:

@bsabruzzo oh i could attack fox news for much more than one error 2 years ago. and the huffington is not run by media matters….granted it is still excessively liberal and sickeningly biased, but still.

  33. frankylovesyall says:

In other words, AOL is now a new megaphone for the far left liberals in America. AOL has always been fail and will continue to remain as such. In other news…

  34. bsabruzzo says:

@fullmetalchemy Well, you could attack anybody for anything… but I am pointing out that people are focusing on one specific error on a map over and over rather than substance.

As for the MM and HP comment, I was making one of those wide-sweeping sarcastic comments playing into false common perception.

FoxNews it “rightwing and racist”, MM is an arm of the Sorros shadow cabinet. Get it.

  35. Snowflake70 says:

Molly my dear – is it just that time of the month or could we (I mean you) be

    PREGGERS ?!?!?!??? Come now…tell !

  36. Snowflake70 says:

@corvuscanis Of course as I mentioned – the full breasts could be the monthly gizmo – or a combination of that a “the retro Woodstock peasant look…..

  37. baddogonline says:

Let’s be sure to get in the hateful-liberal swipe at Fox News. This kind of vitriol is poisoning our political debate and causing the crazies to commit violence, just like in AZ last month. The libs should try to unite the population instead of tearing them apart. Then, maybe, another angry lib won’t shoot another Republican Federal judge and moderate congresswoman.

  38. petev23 says:

    – I think it’s super adorable how Molly switches between an American accent and a British accent…she is so freaking cute :)

  39. Pingback: AOL | InBeta

  40. javermillion says:

@3rkid2 Uh, I think you need to take a closer look. Next you will be telling me PBS isn’t liberal media. BTW it’s ‘Arianna’ Huffington.

  41. Ph47K47 says:

@baddogonline The more they shove a wedge between the populace the easier it is to control. Racism, Fear, hatemongering, poverty. All systems to control us. They make the wealthy hate the rich, make the rich hate the poor, make everyone hate everyone for skin color and beliefs tell us we’re all going to die if this so and so happens. If we all were united, nothing could control us, so they keep us divided so they keep control.

  42. freesk8 says:

And now news on the AOL portal will be even more left-wing.
How is that going to work with the fact that AOL subscribers tend to be older and older people tend to be more conservative?
I’d say that’s setting themselves up for failure.

  43. kimseybennettj says:

Imma be honest I love rocketboom! Great work Molly!

Finally reposted one on my blog!

    jkbdaybreaks.blogspot.com

  44. MrCannedevil says:

Errr how about this? That was a very informative, articulate and interesting video. Molly is both beautiful and intelligent and should be commended for her on screen persona. Enough with crude comments?

  45. 89Husker says:

Molly your smile makes my day. I still have a bunch of those AOL cds, when I was younger my brothers and I would start collecting them like trading cards. I think it was for the simple fact that they were shiny and they’d constantly send them.

  46. cboehm24 says:

AOL defrauded thousands of people who didn’t know any better. They were using the “pay by the hour” model long after all other ISPs had dropped it, and their ubiquity suckered in non-technical older folks. Not only that, but they were notorious for continuing to charge customers long after service had been discontinued.

  47. findcodex says:

Which is better HannahMinux or Molly?

People prefer HannahMinux because she’s got big boobs. I prefer molly. I wanna to marry her.

  48. ProNorden says:

at 3:05 to 3:11: “TechCrunch arguably the most influential tech blog in the world ..and controversial” and she begins coughing. What does the coughing mean?

  49. lauraneato says:

I can’t rip on AOL. I really loved AOL when it was at its peak, and I probably still would be using it if I didn’t go to college, where they provided ethernet, and I finally learned better. My parents unfortunately don’t know any better. They still use AOL.

  50. TimBER says:

I remember all my nimrod non-computer friends thinking they could keep installing those AOL disks for more free online time…DOH!

  51. httprover says:

I just checked through my trash basket and found an old AOL disk addressed to current resident. Shows you how often I dump the trash basket. Do you think it will be worth something someday? (Ahh…umm…that cough sounds bad. ;P )

  52. seinVerstand says:

Back when I couldn’t afford internet I use to collect the free trial CDs and use them for free internet. When one trial will expire, I would just put in a CD and get another trial.

  53. hrgoodmanjr says:

Clay pigeons: I loved the AOL CD’s, they fit my clay pigeon holder & made a cool sparkle when hit. My friends saved the CD’s for me & I hundreds to shoot in the fields. Dad punished me when he plowed that spring, I cleaned out the barn & learned an important lesson: there’s no difference between AOL & horse shit.

  54. sargin1 says:

on anything other than AOL “for better or for… *cough cough*” on AOL “for… LOADING or for… LOADING *cough cough cou… LOADING”.

  55. bddblade says:

I always hated how the said it was fucking free, but you had to put your credit card info in first. And once you did that you were fucked, they had your shit on file.

  56. readallen says:

  61. mini14tx1 says:

They spend 300,000,000 dollars on a company that is worth about 30,000,000 dollars and then give total control to that bitch?

  62. JOPAGalvin says:

My first thumbs down for Molly.Content is king so this will fail. My 87 yr old aunt gets tech better than Ariana. (No Andrew Breitbart no Huff Post) Ariana is a silly, detached from reality limousine liberal and a shameless, social climber. The site is filled with duller than dishwater, conventional, almost always wrong, liberal nonsense.Plus lots of celebrity “news” along with asinine ramblings from celebrity blowhards like Alec Baldwin. It’s the bastard child People Mag and Showbiz Tonight.

  63. JOPAGalvin says:

Left out of the AOL history section that their business model consisted of scamming gullible, less internet knowledgeable, most economically vulnerable consumers out 25-35 bucks a month to make a phone call to an internet provider. They were still running this racket long after dial-up was obsolete.

  64. JOPAGalvin says:

@yerk3 I am not now, nor have I ever been a Tea Partier. Thought Molly was sort of liberal. Though, not all obnoxious or in you face about it. Also, not such a conventional and not such a establishmentarian liberal as to be taken in by the Huffington Post & AOL.

  65. katiekawaii says:

Seriously, can someone explain the controversy and the coughing thing? There are bunches of comments that insinuate the writer knows what the deal is, but nobody’s explaining. Is it just that it makes no sense and nobody knows?

  66. yerk3 says:

@JOPAGalvin If you’re not a tea-partier, then you’re dangerously close to being one. A rose by any other name… And how is it being “taken in” by the Huffington post to simply report on it without dumping a bunch of tea-tard/conserva-tard crap about anchor babies and welfare queens? Nowhere in the video did Molly or anyone else explicitly support the Huffington post, or say anything like “you should totally read it, because Ariana Huffington is your god!” Also, since when is AOL leftist?

  67. Xarkonul says:

I hope AOL also stands for “Americans in Opposition to Lying.” AOL should end the unjust censorship policies of “The Huffy Don’t Post” or at least make the website admit that it censors its opponents. When I recently used The Huffington Post’s own figures to create my “Joe Averageguy” analogy, which argues that global temperatures have leveled off since 1998, The Huffington Post deleted my comments and removed my profile, Xarkonul. Please see my YouTube channel (Xarkonul).
