R&D: Developer/Designers (Rails)

We’re looking for experienced web developers to join Rocketboom’s internet video R&D team. Responsibilities include the design & development of our publishing and distribution systems as well as building new community-oriented web applications like Know Your Meme and Magma. Ideal candidates will be well-versed in creating and growing web platforms and share an interest in the exciting world of Internet video.

Skills:
* Expert knowledge of XHTML, CSS, and (unobtrusive) javascript
* At least 1 year of experience working with an MVC framework (we mostly use Ruby, Rails, and Merb) and 4 years of web programming experience
* Proficient in working with a wide variety of web service APIs
* Versed in open-source software development (and git)
* Enjoys working with a small team
* Passionate about technology and life in general!

* Substantial experience with PHP and MySQL development
* WordPress development experience a plus

Internships for production assistance (shooting and editing), web development, office-help, community management and script writing are available for the exceptionally motivated and outstanding applicants. Daily tasks will vary depending on interests, including maintaining social media accounts, assisting with office work and production, posting content to our websites, etc. Candidates must be dynamic, energetic, and willing to take on a variety of tasks from bookkeeping and filing to scouring the internet for blog material and story ideas.
