@shakespeare77022 I wrote this episode, and I’m also from Texas, and there is kudzu in East Texas! If you google a map of the american south and a map of kuzu infestation, they are almost identical maps! A lack of research on your part doesn’t mean a lack of research on my part.

Italy is working with scientists in Canada to get rid of one of their invasive species by introducing ANOTHER invasive species. Leptoglossus occidentalis is native to North America and has made it’s way over to Italy and is destroying the stone pine trees. This is bad because the pine nut industry is huge in Italy. Now they’re using biological control and working towards introducing Gryon pennsyvanicum to control the Leptoglossus population. Very cool work by Ward Strong if interested. :)

In New York we have Monk Parakeets (a.k.a “da Brooklyn parrot”, even though you find them more often in Queens).

on Guam the browntree snake pretty much destroyed our native bird population. our state bird the guam rail is now endangered because of it. not to mention they climb our telephone lines (no one knows why), get electrocuted and cause a power outage. that happens quite a few times

To answer a few of the previous posts – the destructive qualities of an invasive species are not simply that it’s not native. In New Zealand, ferrets and weasels are more of a problem than rabbits – rabbits are an annoyance to some, but not a threat to other species. As for horses, I don’t know of any serious problems that they’ve caused. As for the end of the video, yes, humans are the most destructive, but there’s no easy answer to deal with that. :-/
