On a weekly basis I watch and read a gargantuan lot of US news and I can’t remember me coming across an infinitesimal subatomic particle of the outrage raised by this North Korean case.

Both of these journalists will eventually be released through negotiations with the US, won’t last more than a few months. All North Korea wants is attention, this is what all their missile testing the last few years has been about. They know they will soon be toppled militarily or diplomatically, they will eventually be just another trade partner. It is shameful what this government has done to it’s own people, but we shouldn’t be over there in the first place. Who made us world police?
As for these few dummies saying we should go to war and invade North Korea, think about the hundreds of thousands of South Korean and American troops that would die in the first 24 hours, and ask yourself this question again.

I’ve never been to North Korea so I can’t say what it is really like, I only know what I’ve been told or shown, and from what I’ve seen and heard I don’t think I’d want to even be close to that country from fear of what could happen.

Too bad. They were really brave to cross the boarder into NK. They must thought US government would back them up if anything happen.
This isn’t an appropriate venue to grind your political axes for Gore, and it fails to appreciate the risk and effort involved for keeping people informed about current events from around the globe.
Lee and Ling may not have crossed into North Korea as alleged since it has been known to kidnap people just beyond their borders. It’s more probable that Lee and Ling were working on a report from the Chinese side when they were taken by force from North Korean border guards.
I urge anyone who feels passionately about Lee and Ling’s imprisonment to sign the online petition urging for their release, if interested. I found it at the Nation online (see: Act Now! section) linking directly to the site collecting signatures. I believe there is also a Ling/Lee page at Facebook. Peace.

American democracy is an illusion. The candidates are chosen for the people. It’s a 2-party system. People don’t vote for the issues. They vote for the people.. Actually Lisa Ling did in fact did a documentary pertaining to North Korea about a year ago. In a way it was a covert project but she did have North Korea aware of her actions ans she was not harmed at all. I believe that NK are using these two reporters and their crew as a outlet to exhort their power to the world.
