P.E.T. – Personal Energy Transportation Project

Mel West from Columbia, Missouri founded the all volunteer organization Personal Energy Transportation Project to bring low cost, hand cranked vehicles to those in need in developing countries.  Since 1995, P.E.T. has delivered thousands of homemade wheelchairs to over 80 countries worldwide. • Jitaril says:

This one seems more so directed at those in countries that have rough areas that need something more than just two wheels to cross. Three wheels give better stability and the tires seem to be better designed for rough ground.

Do more research before making such a rude comment.

  • n10ding says:

loved this rocketboom Molly.. It's good to see the good others are doing and what PET is doing is wonderful!

  • EirikXL says:

@Jitaril Wheel cheirs have four wheels, though yeah the tires for this one makes sense : p

  • MrPointyarrow says:

  • ctso74 says:

    Pure awesome!

  • MrGaboox says:

the only thing i didn't like is that we only had about 40 secs of molly (taking into account the 23 seconds from rocketboom splitting it's shows into separate channels)

where the hell is someone in the third world supposed to plug in a rascal scooter or electric wheelchair, or if it breaks how are they going to fix it? This has simple enough parts that a bicycle repair shop in the third world can fix it.

  • jason24568 says:

Great story! Thanks and read my message to your Rocketboom Network channel.

That guy and all the other volunteers are heros :D... cause they're making the world a better place.

  • Cimlite says:

Can't stand the "missionary" part of it... but I must say, this seems to be a worthy cause.

  • jardidge says:

Set fire to that old guy. Then fuel the fire with his shitty P.E.Ts

  • jardidge says:

    I prefer doggy style

  • Stripdancer100 says:

This video reminded me about Tom Henderson and his ShelterBox designed to help people who lost everything after earthquakes or some other kinds of disasters. What is really great is that there's a lot of kind-hearted people in America who have desire and all the resources to help people who are in trouble... Just great.

  • quosmo1 says:

Im guessing people only receive a P.E.T after converting to christianity, kind of sad that such a good effort like this has to be related to religion in any way at all : why cant we just do good for goodness sake itself ?

  • Wehrhafter says:

    MOOOOOOLLY! =333

  • KatesChaos710 says:

This made me so happy to see :)

  • megahappypinkskitty says:

I love it when people are nice to others just for the sake of being nice :)

  • l104693 says:

Thumbs up!, Not for the video, but for the GREAT volunteers!

  • GallopingPints says:

I'd really love to do something like that when I grow old.

  • JoeDull says:

Fantastic video - it's so moving to see that kind of human spirit is still alive today. Shame on the 10 who disliked it.

  • GmasterRED says:

  • GmasterRED says:

3:59 ...religion. *gasp* he's a racist redneck who hates everybody.

  • GmasterRED says:

    Bullshit you watch for TITS

  • GmasterRED says:

Now this is something I can dig. Not shady charites about ambiguois "25$ feeds a kid for a year" bullshit, but straight helping people. There's no scamming or cheating involved becase the only people who benifit are people who are already handicaped, so there's no need to worry about the stuff going to the wrong person.
Who said that in America everything was about money, huh? We still give the most charity of everyone in the world.

  • gulllars says:

    @GmasterRED not really ^^.
The only differences between religious humanists and non-religious humanists are the religious have one more motive to do it (heaven), but they _may_ also have reasons to discriminate against regions with occupants of other religions.

    Inspiring video BTW,

  • GmasterRED says:

...paid for with their own money that they worked for. Purely capitialistic.

  • GmasterRED says:

hmm. "pet project". Whose, I wonder.

  • keenly says:

Well there is a 'reason' their legs are buggered and they aint got no P.E.T. build faster old man!

  • etkenny1 says:

  • BillyBob3430 says:

Retarded ... we made these in woodshop Freshman year. Never caught on. This guys is selling ketchup popsicles to women in white gloves.

  • OhNoItsGojira says:

This is great. I have family in Columbia, so I'm going to send this to them to see if they know about it.

  • OhNoItsGojira says:

@BillyBob3430 Hah. No he's actually giving them away, and has the connections to make their use worthwhile.

  • noseman123 says:

@GmasterRED I most certainly do not my good sir.

  • emoly1994 says:

@BillyBob3430 "This guys is selling ketchup popsicles to women in white gloves." That didn't make much sense...but still, he's not selling them. He doesn't get any money, and nor do the volunteers. Hence why they're volunteers.

  • Izhape says:

    i'm unworthy. PET is awesome.

  • xboyx16 says:

i dont know why i watched this, there was no molly... but maby it is becouse i had nothin else to do...first i was in my own thoughts, but at some part i startened to listen what they said... at the end i was like... wooow...i dont know where i am getting with my comment. just woow... yea now i remeber... i wanted to say it the long way, but i found a way to make it short =)...
"American people are not as stupid, self centered and evil as i thought =)" thats supposed to be a comliment {"no room"

  • frigs123 says:

@xboyx16 Sadly not even a small fraction of them are like this.

  • eph5121 says:

and we complain all the time about how hard OUR life is! ...don't we?

  • Jaspirita says:

Thanks for the info, Molly ^_^ I'm gonna write them a letter seeing if there's any way to set up a branch around here.

  • ReubenHorsley says:

  • BillyBob3430 says:

  • NoDakBees says:

Respect those like these who make a difference! And people think all Americans are selfish pigs.

  • huwgethynrichards says:

Are the women on this show created in some lab where the perfect woman is put together? When you waych them they sort of mesmerise you..... can a person really look that good and say all that intelligent., witty, interesting stuff?
Big up to the PET people!!! Nice one dudes!

  • maxitjeh12 says:

@noseman123 And for Molly, of course

  • sedqp5 says:

I go to school at Mizzou and have had the pleasure of meeting a few of these people. They are some of the most selfless people I know but at the same time they really enjoy their work. Its so cool to find an organization where people have found a way to actually help and have fun doing it! Definitely a cause worth donating too.

  • dakoata121212 says:

    That's an awesome project :D

  • Hyenashowl says:

These people are essentially missionaries, helping those in need in the name of Jesus.

  • GaurdianShot says:

Awesome :D I think that would be the greatest thing to do with my time When I retire!
