I love this story. I’ve heard about these before. Its a different mindset. Instead of “how do I do it! Tell me!”, its “let me play with this”. Its what sets appart people who want to learn, and people who want to be told what to do.

Of course, it could still be self-selection. Those who want to learn will be drawn to the walls, whereas those who don’t will be repelled, or be cast aside by those who want to learn but have no patience for the others.

You know, if we bring computers to Indian Children, and teach them how to use them…we might be able to get them to wait by the phone and answer our tech and customer service questions. You can say I’m a dreamer. But I’m not the only one…

There you go.” And watching the interaction between the two boys sitting beside the boy talking is so funny. He whispers, “Stop fidgeting around you twat!” “Fuck you, bitch!” Oh and how beautiful is that Parimala? Absolutely gorgeous!

“most of the children were poorly educated and knew almost no English” Does it not strike anyone else as odd that kids from INDIA don’t know English at all? okay okay I see what you’re saying, there could have been people in that town that actually spoke English, but to expect the majority (the children) of that population to not know what English was to begin with sort of makes the narrator sound ignorant of the culture and humans in general. just my opinion

@carrodecorrida005 you have every right to say what ever you want. Some of it is fair, but some is mean. First the fact that we have so many poor people in our own county is something that is often over looked by the media and people who seek to help the poor and disenfranchised. We should help ourselves before we help others. However, I am sure the poor in our county have many many more opportunities than those in other countries. And I think the amount spent over seas is much less.

@carrodecorrida005 and you don’t have to be interested in the children of other countries, but then again why would you care about the children in other states or even other towns. They are all children and they are all effected by the same oppressive dominate monetary system. But to go as far as to call them cockroaches will put you on the wrong side of the argument and place yourself in the same group of people who causes, though in directly the oppression of innocent women and children.

Children just seem to pick up some things quicker than adults can. I surfed the net with a 2 year old on my knee, 1 hour later he was doing everything for me, clicking on thumbnails, scrolling the page etc…

Adolescent brains naturally crave understanding and knowledge, adult brains are tired and just what to live with what they already understand.

@MJG164 People in India DO speak English. India is a former British colony. Educate yourself.

This is actually kinda similar to how i learned to use a computer myself. Although i started out with a friend at his fathers Comodore 64 when we were 5-6 years old back in 93-94 playing various english adventure games without any help, even though we are norwegian and couldn’t read english we still completed the games. And then i got a 386 with MSdos i learned to operate and play games on myself.
Learning to use computers through curiosity and play without supervision is a great thing.
