  57. Except for a snippet mentioning “low oxygene” I’m just as clueless as before on why high altitude is good for training. I’ll have to integrate it with my guesswork. But on local colour Ruud’s reporting is always unsurpassable.

    Reply
    1. Training in low oxygen environments, causes the body to create more red blood cells, which are responsible for transporting oxygen from the longs to the muscles. Having many is (obviously?) a good thing for sports performance. Taking some EPO is the easy to get more red blood cells, but it appears to be forbidden ;)

1700 is a good altitude to train because most of stadiums at near the sea level

also they train there to get a better pulmonary capacity so when go to sea level they get more oxygen on blood

other exaple are Peru and Bolivia ppl that live at high altitudes they got big chests and short legs

Id like to live somewhere of high altitude…a clear example of how your environment works on you as an organism…the environment & its effects are invisible to the average eyes, but if you are attentive you’ll observe how closely peoples moods & personality are changed just by small shifts in the weather..like I notice how much the mood will change when a cloud passes in front of the sun for a few minutes & people become solemn..then the sun comes back out and suddenly the energy is back up..

mum, instead of complaining, use the opportunity to build your city and attract foreign runners. i hear the ministry of tourism is spending money to rennovate the stadium and help attract tourist to your town. why not look for funds to expand roads and build trails to help with congestion. mom, i would urge you to pursue business marketing, planning and expansion. these runners are going to boost the economy in the area if you take the right steps.

it helps bc, when you have high class runners in the city training, it attracts more world class runners, apparel sponsors and , media. they need aplace to live, eat hence boosting the economy of the town. economics 101
