Will Elmo be there?
Sports suxxx!
dutch?
isn’t the language different if you come from diff country?
Translation error at 0:12. The narrator said 2400, not 1700 :P.
Interesting video nonetheless I guess.. kinda random tho.
yes….go on.
27 Million (wikipedia) people speak Dutch.
good
running is life
why not Nepal ? everest is there for high altitude
very interesting.
@ethoxyethaan including me, which no1 cares about, good video, and yeah, the translation is good

POWERTHIRSTTT
What language is it that the guy is speaking?
KENYANS
The commentator is speaking dutch
cool info
Very interesting story, and good reporting from Rocketboom, as always.
Great information!
haha, this is so weird! I’m so used to seeing Dutch subtitles for english clips, but now the dutch clip was subtitled in English :D haha
really cool…glad i subscribed to rocketboom…its stuff like this you just don’t get anywhere else or maybe i just don’t look hard enough :)
love it that its in dutch
@Tobiiie dutch
my friend used to train in tibet china
I love that it’s in dutch. I can understand everything!
hey ^^
Same here… It takes me a few seconds to realize that I can actually understand it :)
I guess for Africans running on second hand shows going to Nepal isn’t really an option…
We are just really excited when anything on youtube comes in our language ^_^ it’s kind of rare…
i was excited to watch this! i could understand the narrator, haha.
and i need to start running again.
‘Walk to the well’
is it dutch flemish or afrikaans?
No wonder they win so many medals at the olympics. the moroccans and ethiopians also do the same high altitude training.
afrikaans
When I read the comments, it seems that almost half of them are from Dutch speaking people, LOL
Is dat nou niet grappig of wat?
Lol, the altitude as in the story of the narrator is 2,400 meters and 1,700 meters in the subtitles.
neither: it is dutch as spoken in the Netherlands.
Humanwire rules.
NEDERLAND!!! OLE OLE OLE.
Is Rocketboom dutch!? O_O
0:13 , wtf hes smoking?!? im confused….
1700 is nothing. the real altitude of the location is 2400, which is still pretty low, the reason they are so good is because they are black.
that aint high altitude, ive went to stay to a city which is at nearely 3000 meters above sea level
lol, kenyans
Hee! Wat leuk! Rocketboom in nederlands! (afrikaans feitelijk. maar maakt er niks uit.)
it’s because it’s probably chilly up there, so when he runs, he gets hot and his sweat gets condensed. Like when you exhale warm air on a cold day.
I love these random stories from africa. Nice to get an insight into foreign culture. Thanx!!
You know when you breath out on a cold day and fog replaces your breath? It’s that.
NEDERLANDS!!
Fun and inspirational
it’s in Africa, but not Afrikaans… if that makes sense. It’s the “real” Dutch XD
wooot Dutch!
awesome
Except for a snippet mentioning “low oxygene” I’m just as clueless as before on why high altitude is good for training. I’ll have to integrate it with my guesswork. But on local colour Ruud’s reporting is always unsurpassable.
Training in low oxygen environments, causes the body to create more red blood cells, which are responsible for transporting oxygen from the longs to the muscles. Having many is (obviously?) a good thing for sports performance. Taking some EPO is the easy to get more red blood cells, but it appears to be forbidden ;)
Listening to Bob Marley & smokin’ da weed creates more red blood cells…
marirunna…>>> marry runna?
High altitude livin
Just another take on “High” altitude
Short and to the point. Thank you.
1700 is a good altitude to train because most of stadiums at near the sea level
also they train there to get a better pulmonary capacity so when go to sea level they get more oxygen on blood
other exaple are Peru and Bolivia ppl that live at high altitudes they got big chests and short legs
these guys are training for the olympics and that jerks complaining about traffic!
and why is molly not in this…lame.
Wow!
ahh, i see now, it just seemed a bit strange but it makes sense, thanks
i have 7 muscle videos and if people want to watch them, please rate and subscribe thank you
lol i live at 3600 ft above sea level
This video is awesome!!! Finally some good news about Africa. Im tired of only hearing the bad stuff about africa in my world Studies class. Thanks Rocketboom!!!
After a hard day’s run, here’s what the boys sound like.

Pluto & Minnie have gone thru 12 boxes of kleenex
I train at 2300 meters every year for distance running, but these guys are studs.
you know you’re right, its good to start hearing some good news.
3600 ft is only about 1100 meters.
They’re about 600 meters (2000ft) above you.

I can’t understand why 90% of the comments are about the video language… 1) It’s about the 124th video in Dutch 2) Who cares if you understand it or not?
Id like to live somewhere of high altitude…a clear example of how your environment works on you as an organism…the environment & its effects are invisible to the average eyes, but if you are attentive you’ll observe how closely peoples moods & personality are changed just by small shifts in the weather..like I notice how much the mood will change when a cloud passes in front of the sun for a few minutes & people become solemn..then the sun comes back out and suddenly the energy is back up..
U.S. is better than any country. U.S. FTW!
ha i just caught a typo in the translation. and since my german is very basic, so is the mistake. :)
I live at 4,327 ft above sea level. When I go down to sea level running is far easier. It’s actually low oxygen training and not really about the height.
@1:00 that is a FAST run.
Hmmmm….. gives me a good business idea.
Iten is about 2400 m above sea level overlooking the Rift Valley from the west.
watch?v=S01845y6L98
this is really cool stuff. its nice to see how they can still thrive without any modern technology of equiptment. Just free running in a clean natural enviroment.
at 1:00 omg if thats theyre constant pace then theyre beasts! thats almost my sprinting speed hahaha

I agree with my last comment that U.S. is better than any country and I approve this comment!
Per varios usus artem experientia fecit.

Um,
they say: “vierentwintighonderd (2400) meter boven de zee spiegel.” and you translated it to: 1700 meter.
Just lettin you know ^^

The pase that they train is incredible.
@MrRedskins0021

I use to run at these paces every other day at 10K with wrist and ankle weights on. But I lost my touch.

He’s talking Dutch.
Man I wish I could understand Dutch…I live in Denver, so I kinda know what altitude training is like
theres subtitles
lol thats the second dutch documentairy on rocketboom
no, it isnt. there are far more, newfag.
mum, instead of complaining, use the opportunity to build your city and attract foreign runners. i hear the ministry of tourism is spending money to rennovate the stadium and help attract tourist to your town. why not look for funds to expand roads and build trails to help with congestion. mom, i would urge you to pursue business marketing, planning and expansion. these runners are going to boost the economy in the area if you take the right steps.
it helps bc, when you have high class runners in the city training, it attracts more world class runners, apparel sponsors and , media. they need aplace to live, eat hence boosting the economy of the town. economics 101
