If you plan on upgrading to Windows 7 be prepared to backup your system, do a custom installation and then reinstall all your programs. Not everything is compatible. Expect some “issues.”

How about not “less childish” but “modern” operating systems, such as XP post SP 2, Vista, 7, and even OS X I suppose. BSODs are a lot more rare in Windows these days, but at least they used the right version. Always annoying when fools show a Windows 9x era BSOD when showing NT-based versions.

Yeah, that works for me. I work in OSX professionally, but maintain a Kubuntu/XP sp3 machine at home along with my Macbook Pro. I downgraded the new PC I bought a year and a half ago from Vista back to the XP, and its been running a lot better, but I really don’t use it for much system-wise except to photoshop now and then. OSX, I haven’t ever had any problems with. Kubuntu runs fine, but I’m not using it for anything serious, mainly gaining familiarity with it out of sheer curiosity. Its nice.
