Let’s be clear - bonded labour is already illegal in India and Pakistan. The landlord is breaking the law in a HUGE way and no-one cares. Ask yourselves why that is and what that might mean for the people who try to resist this criminal or try to escape. Yeah, arrested BY THE POLICE and brought straight back, then beaten (or worse).

Which is never, of course. 100Rs per day is never paid to them! It’s the rate the debt is paid off and carefully designed to be so low they can never escape.

Its important to study the history of China and its land reform. Mao essentially purged all the landlords, and gave all the land to peasants. In return, several million landlords were humiliated, killed, or sent off to work camps. Even with the peasants receiving their land from their “cruel oppressors”, China none the less would deteriorate like a public bathroom. Perhaps the best empirical approach is to look at one of the Economic Freedom Indexes, and observe how the less capitalistic the economy is, the greater level of poverty exists.

As I watched this video, I kept thinking “it’s so much worse here in U.S.A. agriculture”. I met an ex-slave who escaped & exposed a slave farm. And agriculture is one of the leading slave using industries in the U.S.A. The garment, domestic servant & sex industries are also big slave users in this country. The victims are foreigners brought here illegally.
